Spent the evening surrounded by 400 years of beaded fashion at the Bata Shoe Museum’s @batashoemuseum newest exhibition, Brilliant: The Art of Beaded Footwear Around the World. It showcases over 85 pieces from across the globe, exploring how beadwork has been used for identity, status, and art throughout history. Theme: maximalist, glamorous decadence to celebrate the opening of Brilliant: The Art of Beaded Footwear Around the World at @batashoemuseum ✨ This is an incredible exhibition that provided such incredible archival access and information, as well as endless inspiration. Swipe to see more 👀 Photos by @ryanemberley and @matt_tibbo_photography 📸 tagged throughout! But first, the details 👀 I decided to really go all in on Pearl bead maxxing for my look. They had a bead pin making station which I adored! How gorgeous are these beads? I used it to add a little decoration to my bag for the night and will definitely use it more in the future. It’s all in the details. My guy / part time bead labourer, he so kindly helped me finish this project on time for the event. Okay now THE SHOES. The collection is extensive but these immediately caught my eye. pause 💗💗 “It wasn’t only footwear that was decorated with beads” the description went on to say that these beaded stockings would often be worn with a dress that mostly concealed the embellishment, but the ornamentation would reveal itself when the wearer sat down. Reminded me of the exact concept behind my recent DIY Pearl socks!!! So cool seeing this historical context. Oh and the walls in the space are super cutie. I loved this pair and was so excited to see this is a modern brand!! @milatextiles creates one of a kind, wearable works of beaded art. How incredible??!? Big smiles!! The exhibition is in fact, Brilliant. One for the digital frame. A little shimmy With peace and love, see the exhibition if you can xx

A fabulous evening last night (with the best date @jasonzanteart 💙) at the @batashoemuseum celebrating the opening of their newest exhibit, “Brilliant: The Art of Beaded Footwear Around the World.” Their team has curated such a beautiful collection of pieces, showcasing the artistry and craftsmanship of beaded footwear from around the world. Definitely worth a visit! The exhibition runs until April 2027 so make sure you go see it.
