Nimrods (2026) Movie Review:

I’m always up for a scrappy music movie, and the Green Day connection gives this one a genuine personality rather than feeling like another disposable teen comedy. The soundtrack is easily my favourite part, and the three leads—Mason Thames, Kylr Coffman and Ryan Foust—have enough chemistry to keep the road-trip chaos moving. But I kept wishing the writing was as energetic as the music.

I found myself predicting too many of the jokes and detours, and the film repeatedly settles for familiar road-movie beats instead of pushing its own ideas further. Even the Green Day material sometimes feels more like decoration than something deeply woven into the story. I still had fun with it, especially whenever the soundtrack kicks in, but I wouldn’t call it essential viewing. Green Day fans will probably get more mileage out of it; everyone else can wait for streaming.

Nimrods (2025)
Dir. Lee Kirk

Plot:
Three friends journey from Kansas City to Los Angeles, mistakenly believing that their band is opening for "Green Day" on New Year’s Eve.

🌟 3/5
A film hitting all the right notes, just like Green Day did back in the time.

A little while back, @greenday had made the announcement about their next project, but only this time, it’s a musical/comedy movie known as @nimrodsmovie. I was so surprised that it actually happened, especially they’ve get to filmed in one of the best LA venue in Hollywood, aka @hollywoodpalladium!!! And I have to admit when I was no longer a movie buff from a while back, that movie is really good and enjoyable to watch. As a Green Day fan, this movie is definitely worth watching, especially for anyone who wanna get in God’s Favorite Band!!! This movie was definitely had a lot of hype, fun, laugh, emotions and excitement. It has also captured so many Easter egg hunt and references about Green Day’s story. And here’s the best part, they had played most of Green Day’s best hits throughout the entire film and they become the best cameo appearances (featuring @theparadoxband and of course, @mckennagraceful)!!! I’ll definitely give that movie a full 10/10 stars, cause’ we do need more of that type of movies, where it brought both music and movies coming together. Back then in the early 2000s, they used to have a type of movie that shares the connection with musical concept genre, and even actual movie soundtracks that you go to the cd stores that felt like a real music vibes, (way better than the movies era that were in and have, if you know what I mean lol). I say this movie is worth watching, go ahead and check them out!!!

still pinching myself that I got to have a small part in this hilarious, heart-warming film. this set was full of incredibly friendly, talented people and I’m so grateful to have gotten to work amongst them. like, getting to stand backstage at the palladium in hollywood shooting a feature film while literal @greenday performed my high school graduation song? truly more than a dream come true.

there’s too many people to thank for this, but I wanna shout humongous thanks to @kroftr for believing in me from the start. this never would’ve happened without you 💚 productions like this would not be possible without the collaboration and hard work of SO MANY PEOPLE. endless thanks to the entire cast and crew for being so welcoming and kind and for working so hard to make this movie a reality.

I also wanna shout @ryanfoustofficial (Chad) for letting me push him around in a bunny costume for a couple days. you’re a super trooper superstar and you kill it in this movie. it was an honor to share scenes with you.

i could go on and on, but I’ll try to wrap this up. life as an actor is full of ups and downs, so we have to celebrate our wins! i’d say this is a pretty massive win 🎬💖 enjoy my bts from @nimrodsmovie 🤟💚🎸 and you know what? when september ends, please don’t wake me up. let me stay in this dream ✨

@nimrodsmovie starts streaming tomorrow!!!
