There are no words. After two years of planning, rescheduling, getting friends and family to travel during a pandemic, working with HANDS DOWN the best and most brilliant creatives and vendors in the world, I will be living off this high for the rest of my life! Great Apes, Thread. I first learned of this band in 2013 because we were booked on the same bill in Pomona, Ca. I was stoked because they were on Asian Man and I had checked out this album and loved it and bought it the night of the show. The opening track Seventeen Years is a helluva opener and it doesn’t really let up til the end of side 2. Energetic as all heck. Hard to believe this band didn’t get to a bigger level. Excellent musicians, songs, lyrics, performers and a great set of people. They’re difficult to label and are hard to compare: a clean and showered East Bay punk sound? Bits of post punk (Fugazi, ATDI). You’ll just have to take my suggestion: this band rips and I hope they move you too.
