We spent the morning with @aliiiiiiiiiiiic at @la_barbecue, one of Austin’s most iconic pitmasters and the woman behind one of the best barbecue joints in Texas. She took us out back, showed us the pits and walked us through everything.
An experience we won’t forget in a hurry.

Some people talk about bringing New York to Texas. Justin Shugrue actually did it

We sat down with the founder of @shugsbagels at their new Austin location. A long time coming and worth every bit of the wait. A childhood in the Northeast, a dream of recreating that bagel and bodega culture in the South, and a business that has grown from one shop near SMU to a growing family of locations.

We heard the full story. And naturally, we stayed for the bagels. They did not disappoint.

We dropped into @anhematx , the next generation of a Vietnamese family that has been feeding Austin since 1994 for a chat about their new venture and their excitement for the Hospitality Cup. They insisted on feeding us and we are very glad they did.

We finished with the matcha soft serve. Do not skip it
