Some months ago, I shared our family’s story—from tragedy to learning how to triumph in the midst of recovery. 2.1 million views over multiple platforms later, you all flooded my inbox sharing similar stories of triumph.

Navigating my husband’s brain injury has been one of the most difficult things my family and I have ever experienced. Yet, by the grace of God, we continue to prevail.

What amazes me is that during what has seemingly been one of the hardest seasons of my life, God has also allowed me to experience some incredible moments of joy, growth, and purpose. I’ve had opportunities to grow as an advocate, speaker, mother, and woman in ways I never could have imagined. In the midst of caregiving, recovery, speaking engagements, and opportunities to travel, God placed another burden on my heart: to create a safe space for caregivers like me who are navigating what sometimes feels impossible.

That is how The C.A.R.E. Cohort — Caregivers Advocating for Rest & Empowerment — was born.

The C.A.R.E. Cohort is a safe community where caregivers can come and lay down what they have been carrying—whether by force, circumstance, responsibility, or choice—and receive the support, encouragement, rest, and empowerment they need to keep going.

I don’t proclaim to have all the answers, and I was never meant to. That’s why I’ll be bringing in some of my incredible friends and colleagues who specialize in areas such as mental health, physical wellness, parenting under distress, caregiver support, and so much more.

My prayer is that this becomes a place where caregivers don’t always have to be the strong one. A place where you can exhale. A place where you can be seen, supported, poured into, and reminded that you deserve care, too.

I truly hope you’ll join us and/or pass this post on to someone that you know could benefit from this community.

We can’t wait to welcome you into the C.A.R.E. Cohort— a safe place to put down what you have carried 🤎

This trend is going around and it honestly got me right in my heart. But this time not in a sad way. I begin to think about the VICTORY in the journey. So with a brand new year, I’m choosing to look forward to the victories that I know lie ahead for my family by celebrating the ones that we have already won.

To all of my new followers, WELCOME! Stay tuned because the Ford family will have quite the miraculous 2026!

2025 felt stolen from me.
I walked in hopeful, grateful, believing this would finally be our family’s year of healing. Instead, one person’s mistake cost us seven more months apart and stripped away the little progress we fought so hard to gain.

Explaining to a seven-year-old that Daddy was home… and now he’s gone again—but will come back—nearly broke me.

And still—I won and lost in the same breath. I landed my dream role as an adjunct professor… and lost it in the same semester because my family needed me more. That’s not failure—that’s survival.

So when I say I felt robbed, I mean time, momentum, stability, and choice.

2026 has to hit different. It has to be the year I reclaim myself—not just as a mom and caregiver, but as a woman who goes after what she knows belongs to her. Loudly. Unapologetically. Without permission.

Anybody else ready for a do-over of 2025… or better?

We were a family of four wrapped in love, laughter, plans, and promises. #BuiltFordTough is what everyone has known us to be. And then, just days after Thanksgiving 2023, life shattered without warning.

My husband was suddenly placed on life support.
I became a caregiver overnight.
A stay-at-home mom. A full-time student.
Holding together a five-year-old newly diagnosed with autism and an infant just a few months out of the NICU—while watching the man I loved fight for his life.

People love to tell me how strong I am. But strength is not a compliment when it’s forced. I don’t want applause for surviving things I never asked to endure.

I wish I didn’t have to be strong at all.

My daughter had her father snatched from her childhood—gone for 11 months of hospital rooms, machines, and uncertainty. My son is growing up without truly knowing the father who prayed so desperately for a son. And me? Well, im still discovering what marriage is NOW outside of caregiving and painful self-sacrifice. There is a grief in that no words can fully explain.

And tragedy has a way of revealing truth. It shows you who will stand beside you… and who will quietly disappear. Blood & pledged friendship doesn’t guarantee loyalty or that people will show up the ways they could—or should—when it matters most.

So please hear me when I say this:
Hold your people tighter.
Love louder.
Say the things you keep putting off.
Live fully now.

Because death is not the only thing that can end your life as you know it.
