Such a wonderful night at New York Studio School.

Charles and I with family, friends, artists and students celebrating our honorees Avis Berman, Bonnie Burnham and Trenton Doyle Hancock.

And of course we had to draw! Aristotle Forrester led a little Drawing Marathon during dinner. Cards and pencils came out and we all drew each other. So much fun.

Students painting, people drawing, conversations everywhere. Very Studio School.

And a special moment — Fiona Donovan, great-granddaughter of Gertrude Vanderbilt Whitney, standing beside Cecily Brown’s mural, painted here as a student in 1992 and just rediscovered during the summer renovation. The building was the original home of the Whitney Museum. So much history at 8 West 8th Street.

Very happy to be part of this special School — as an artist, alumna and trustee.

What a night ❤️

🎨 Ryan Wallace: Second Skin
🗓 Jun 11–Sep 4, 2026
📍 Susan Inglett Gallery, 522 W 24th St

Ryan Wallace’s exhibition Second Skin at Susan Inglett Gallery in New York was developed through the artist’s ongoing interaction with and renegotiation of materials salvaged from the remnants of prior works. Unresolved or unfinished pieces are resurrected, and excised components applied with renewed aesthetic intent — translucent fiberglass sheeting becomes, as the title suggests, a second skin, forming new planes for Wallace to cover and cut into across an extensive material list including oil, enamel, acrylic, aluminum, copper, and linen.
