Low quality picture. High quality people.

Dr. Redjal (the 🐐) suggested I get a second opinion about having a second surgery. He was confident. I was confident. But I appreciate him suggesting such a thing so I could be ultra confident. He suggested a Neurosurgeon at Mass General Hospital. I set up an appointment (literally 6 days before my scheduled surgery). Though the appointment was at 12 o’clock in Boston- I didn’t see him until 6 o’clock (darn strangers emergency brain surgery)! That day was so frustrating but with staying true to my “it could always be worse,” I just accepted it as it came. Ultimately he agreed that I should have the surgery (I asked if I was his son, what would he suggest). He said don’t do it here though, do it with Dr. Redjal. I loved hearing that! Now the fun part- a 5 hour drive home before the first day of school. It ended up pouring the whole time and took over 7 hours. Needless to say, energy levels were low meeting my students that next day! Oh well, you just have to accept the good with the bad and push through it!

The picture? I texted 4 college buddies (went to college in NH) that I was going to Treehouse Brewing (my favorite at the time) ‘tomorrow’ on my way up to MGH. Talk about last minute! All 4 showed up. That meant so much to me as I was navigating life with a looming second brain surgery.

Show up for your friends, people, or strangers. You never know how much of an impact it can have. Big or small. Continue to show up, too, when you can!
