5 Q Youth Academies later. It’s bittersweet watching this journey come to an end.

I attended my first Q Youth Academy back in 2022, and after my final camp, looking back at the countless amount of memories that were made, the bonds and friendships that were formed, the laughter that was shared, and the people we became, it brings us to a close of my final QYA.

From little 13-year-old Ella walking into that camp for the first time, to walking out the gates for the final time; the only thing I can think of, is what a privilege it was to attend the camps and be a member of the squads.

It has been such an honour to have been coached by some of the best ref coaches in the game, mentored by referees that I look up to, and be able to referee with friends that I now call my family, and I couldn’t be more thankful for the opportunity.

I will forever hold the Q Youth Academy close to my heart. The academy where I met my best friends, the place I fell in love with the sport, the weekends where I learnt from the coaches who shaped me into the person and referee I am today, and the weekends in February, which I will forever associate with some of the best weekends of my life.

And to that, I’m forever grateful for QYA ✈️ 🥹
