LICKED IT SO IT’S MINE - IIRIS RIIHIMÄKI
@iirisriihimaki @ryderbooks

Licked it so it’s mine is the first artist book by Iiris Riihimäki, bringing together paintings, sketches, found images and fragments from her studio. The publication follows the visual logic through which Riihimäki collects and transforms material from her surroundings.

Through juxtapositions between source material and finished works, images begin to shift in meaning and relation. Somewhere in between an artist book and an introduction to Riihimäki’s practice, Licked it so it’s mine offers an intimate view into a process of looking, collecting and making sense of the everyday. The book is accompanied by two text fragments written by Iiris.

In her first novel, Morgane Billuart combines an unyielding Arctic darkness and media critique to explore the boundaries between physical reality and technological innovation.

“Promptly, without introducing herself, another participant raised her hand, slowly moving toward the microphone before spitting out a few words: “I’m sorry, but in such a world, how do you know what you should believe and shouldn’t trust?”

The speaker remained quiet. After inflexing his finger next to his mouth a few times, he reached for the microphone and claimed, while staring directly at Max: “You pay very close attention to your body and your daily senses. The body does not know how to lie to you. Pay very little attention to your mind. It is lying to you. All the time.”

Vitrine cover reveal
For this third issue of 4/4 Magazine, Matevž Lovšin moved through Geneva’s city center installing a sculpture next to its shops. Weronika Wojda watched two fashion films and found, in their afterimage, a ghost. Raphaël Massart used a glass marble as a third eye. Mariana Escobar followed a lonely city dweller through the night.

4/4 is a magazine based on a simple calculation: 4 contributors, 8 pages each. We arrived at this formula partly by instinct—because we cut the pie into 4 pieces (we didn’t think we could eat 8)—and partly because 2 is a company, 3 is a crowd, but 4 is a party. There’s also the vague memory of someone once saying that one of the last freedoms to defend
is that 2+2=4.

4/4 magazine is published by @ryderbooks , an imprint of @byobfair

What happens when publishing becomes something you do, not something you wait for?

For Jordi de Vetten (@jordi_de_vetten), publishing is not a fixed role, but a shared practice.

As part of Bring Your Own Book (@byobfair), a collective formed together with Susu Lee, Augustinas Milkus (@augustinasmilkus), and Lies Kelder, Jordi works on creating spaces where making, showing, and sharing books happen collectively, through fairs, workshops, and open formats that invite participation.

Since 2021, their work has centred around a simple but radical idea: that publishing can be accessible and collaborative.
Alongside this, they run Ryder Books (@ryderbooks), an imprint where their collective approach extends into printed matter, not as a final step, but as part of an ongoing process.

In this conversation, we explore publishing as a collective act, how book fairs become spaces of exchange, what it means to build something together without losing direction, and why creating your own platform can be more powerful than waiting to be included.
