fear and anxiety can not live here there is no waste at the altar

as i was on my knees in surrender, as someone was praying for me—i saw the image of sticky tar upon me. it was holding me back, challenging my every step, it burned and it hurt my soul. i saw the gentle hands of my savior washing it away, the pain, the sorrow. as i knelt on the floor of the grass as i felt the spirit walk by i was taken back to the day i knelt on the bathroom floor at fourteen years old asking God where he was. i had just been sexually assaulted and was questioning my worth and asking God why he had not saved me. i struggled trying to cling to my faith to a God i did not believe was truly there. that night as hands were laid upon me—i felt freedom. i felt a weight lifted off my shoulders this burden that was never mine to carry being washed away. i felt free from carrying a decision someone else made that had tarnished me. i felt seen as i yelled, “no one understands” and my savior whispered back, “i was there the whole time and i never left your side”
