Quick recap from the OKC marathon Relay: we finished 2nd overall and 1st in our division, ran a 2:38:32 collective time, found out I was on channel 9 for a minute, and had a great time cheering on friends and teammates that ran as well! Best part was getting to finish like we started this race and many races, workouts, long runs, and easy days throughout our first running together, as a team!

A few more photos from yesterday’s 8k. Two things that make great running photos: friends and sunglasses, but mostly friends. My teammates are the best I could ask for. Running with them has helped me to find my passion for running again, and my drive to get better and compete. Proverbs 27:17 “as iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.”

Another great race in the books! Shout out to Ry guy, Mason and Ethan for going 1,2,3 in the overall 8k and Gracie for winning the girl’s 8 mile!

Post season post
This is just the beginning…

“This is just the beginning” a phrase that has become our team’s mantra this year. A year that will forever be marked by cherished memories. Cherished memories made possible by some exceptional people.
So..
To MACU: Thank you for trusting me with this position. “Head coach of Cross Country and Track” a dream I didn’t even know to dream.

To my team: Thank you for trusting me. Thank you for being bold enough to be the 1sts. Thank you for being coachable, courageous, crazy, fun, and vulnerable with me.

To Stacey: Thank you for joining me on this wild ride, I can’t imagine this doing this without you. Thank you for filling all the gaps in my leadership. Thank you for loving our athletes so much. Thank you for trusting me.

To my wife: Thank you for all the seen and in seen things you do for me and our family. Thank you for your selfless love. Thank you for your words of encouragement when I feel defeated. Thank you for tolerating all my running talk. You are one of my heroes.

To God: Thank you for placing me in this position of influence. Thank you for blending two of my passions: you and running so beautifully.

While this may be the end of season #1 it is also
Just the beginning of something special!

Man, what a season! Our first year ever and we qualify for nationals at our second meet running an 8k, @mr._mbaker & @graciee_renee set new school records, Gracie qualified for nationals individually (she also beat a girl from the university of Texas, so she just built different), we place 4th in conference, and to cap off the season, Gracie finishes as an all American 🦅, and we finished 7th out of 15 teams at nationals. And again, this is our first year! Everyone pushed themselves this year to compete and leave everything on the field, and as our coaches would say “this is just the beginning.”

I’m so incredibly blessed to be an ALL-AMERICAN and get 6th at nationals. I thank God for this special season where I have gotten to grow in my relationship with Him and push myself mentally and physically. I’m so grateful I get to run for His glory everyday and I’m surrounded by the best teammates, coaches, and family. Psalms 46:5, “God is within her she will not fail”
