This is me.

The girl who walked into Distinguished Young Women months ago wondering if she was enough, and the same girl walking away realizing she always was. The girl who learned that confidence isn’t about being perfect, it’s about having the courage to be yourself. The girl who stopped comparing herself to everyone else and started embracing the person God created her to be.

This week challenged me in ways I never expected. After spending so many years looking up to the young women on that stage, getting to stand there myself was something I’ll never take for granted. There were moments I was exhausted, moments I questioned myself, and moments I wondered if I could make it through. But every rehearsal, every conversation, every laugh, every late night, and every challenge became part of a journey that changed me forever. Distinguished Young Women gave me so much more than a competition, it gave me lifelong friendships, mentors who believed in me, memories I’ll cherish forever, and a confidence I didn’t know I was missing. Most importantly, it taught me that becoming your best self is far more important than becoming the best.

I’m incredibly honored to have received the Be Your Best Self Essay Award, the Spirit of DYW Award, and over $111,500 in scholarship opportunities. Those blessings mean more than I can put into words, but the greatest gift this program gave me is the person I’m becoming.

This is me. More confident. More courageous. More authentic. And more certain than ever that the greatest thing Distinguished Young Women gave me wasn’t something I could hold in my hands, it was something I’ll carry in my heart for the rest of my life.

This week, I’ve never felt so many emotions all at once. There were so many times I wanted to quit because I didn’t think I could do it, but now I’d give anything to do it all over again.

DYW challenged me, helped me grow, and gave me friendships and memories I’ll never forget. I’m so thankful my hard work was rewarded with the Fitness Award and being named 3rd Alternate, but what I’m taking home means so much more than any award. I’m leaving with more confidence, incredible friendships, and memories that will stay with me forever.

To the Class of 2028, please sign up. It will change your life! We truly have the best program, and I’m so thankful I got to be a part of it. 💙
