Liberos can get kills too 👀

This isn’t a skill that is often taught, but can be used in certain circumstances. Our first option is to set our hitters, but we can rely on a tip if we see open spots in the other team’s defense.

Liberos forget they can still use their hands within the 10 foot line so long as they are attacking on the 2nd contact and aren’t setting up another hitter…because then the hitter cannot make contact with the ball when it is above the net or it is considered a backrow attack and you will lose the point.

Similarly, the only other stipulation is that when a Libero is going for the dump on 2nd contact, the ball cannot be entirely above the net on contact. Let the ball come to you, then angle your hands and release it low and fast over the left shoulder.

Remember…liberos you can still land as far inside the 10 foot line as you need IF you take off from behind the 10 foot line. Your last step wants to be off the right foot, you jump, hike the left leg up, and then you can square and find your target. The last few clips in this video demonstrate that!!
