I will never forget Corbin’s performance in this production of “Ordinary People” as long as I live. The cast and directing was sensational. This play was put in place for a memorial scholarship for a dear friend at UVU who passed away last year. I hadn’t quite grasped the complexity of Corbin’s character until I witnessed him in action. I was not prepared for what I felt and how it would stay with me even weeks later, lingering in the hallways of my mind. The echos hold a compassion so deep I can’t help but be forever changed.
The time he spent to develop this character and the sincerity of his heart deepened me. He was authentic and raw.. my heart twisted around the themes as the show progressed.. it felt too real. I wanted to stand up ..run to him.. turn on the lights and hold him close. I just cried.

One night of pretend, but the reality of this hits home for too many. I’m grateful for the evening to recognize those who are deeply hurting, those who show up even when it feels unbelievably unbearable and for those who have passed on. ❤️@corbin.kerr your devotion to this performance was achingly beautiful.

@ryno2723 and @jennilene.ward are performing in Ordinary People this weekend at @uvuarts Noorda.

The play follows a teenager and his parents after the loss his brother. It tackles important topics like mental illness, suicide, and grief. While it hits incredibly hard for us, I’m really proud of Ryan, Jennie and the cast for doing it.
Thank you to @zacklz9 for deciding to do the show, casting it beautifully and working with UVU and many others to bring the play to the stage.
We are so grateful for actors like @corbin.kerr, @annadeedee0524, @mikenzie.m and Chase Grant for helping tell this story.
Zack and his theater company @utahvalleyplayers will give proceeds to the Cameron Ward scholarship at UVU. The scholarship has raised over $50,000 in the last year and will provide $1,000 scholarship awards each year to two UVU theatre students. The scholarship is endowed, so it will provide scholarships in perpetuity.
There are two more performances today at 2 pm and 7:30 pm. I’ll put a link to the tickets in my bio.

Thank you to @zacklz9 and @utahvalleyplayers who partnered with @uvutyecenter and @taguvu for donating proceeds from their upcoming production of “Ordinary People” to Cameron’s scholarship fund.

The scholarship is set up to support UVU theatre student tuition costs.

The show runs June 18-20, and @ryno2723 and @jennilene.ward are also in the cast.

The production has adult themes and is based on a novel about a young man struggling to regain his equilibrium after caving in to grief and guilt following his brother’s death.

The production is in an intimate theater setting at the @uvunoordacenter with limited seating.
