Don’t let the dream die 💨💨

Post race reflections are always a bit of a struggle for me because I have a strong desire to declare races “good” or “bad”, but I know it’s more complicated than that. It’s possible to run a good/fast race and still be disappointed. You can miss your goal(s) and still be proud. Very few of my races are a clear “good” or “bad” and this one certainly lands in a gray area for me. I had big plans to run faster, but it just didn’t seem to be in the cards for whatever reason so I had to be able to accept that during the race *and* keep pressing towards secondary goals. It’s the forever application of “if you can’t be great, be good.” Easier said than done.

One lesson I’ve learned through racing marathons is that quitting is a choice that you only have to make 1x, but not quitting is a decision you have to make 100x. If nothing else, I’m proud that I made the decision to keep fighting over and over and over until I reached the finish.
