SAT 8/8 – Generation C: ketia, babybel, Catalina + Saint Nia b2b EVISSIMAX, BERSEiD, eliXiiri

You know that feeling of a perfect house party, nothing but friends and loved ones around, joy abounds, the house begins to feel like some mythical sacred site and the night feels seemingly endless. Berlin-based ketia knows that feeling very well. They are the driving force behind Kit Ket, a Lisbon-based collective throwing parties centering on this feeling and centering the queer community and other marginalized people at its heart. On Saturday the 8th of August, presented by local Generation C, a showcase of queer talent from Finland and beyond, ketia arrives to Kaiku to demonstrate their practice combining activism, DJ’ing, and hedonism.

Hard and fast music that spirals into acid-y breaks, pummeling techno, pleasure-driven melodies and catchy vocals, all which coalesce into a backdrop for inclusive, community-focused, and warm energy. In room one, ketia is accompanied by like-minded forces of nature, babybel and Catalina. In room two, a hefty b2b takes place as the Italian-Nigerian rapper and DJ Evissimax from Milan goes at it with Helsinki’s own velocity-raptor and Generation C bossbabe Saint Nia; expect increasing speed and mind-bending breaks, delivered with style for miles. Joining them in room two are BERSEiD and eliXiiri.

Driving raw underground rhythms into physical motion, DJ Aleksi knows how to make a room forget time and space.

DJ Aleksi is a Helsinki-based DJ deeply rooted in the city’s underground scene, a resident at the legendary Club Kaiku, and a regular at Post Bar. He has recently performed at Solstice Festival, Flow Festival, Visio Festival and at clubs such as Sisyphos (Berlin), DOKA and SISSI’S (Amsterdam), NAR (Utrecht), and HALL (Tallinn), sharing lineups with artists including Ogazon, PLO Man, Nick León, Luxe, Paramida, Audrey Danza, Call Super, Levon Vincent, Sansibar and Luca Lozano to name few.

With over ten years of experience, DJ Aleksi is known for his ability to read and move the dance floor. His sets are deep yet physical, moving between bouncy house, rolling techno, wild vocals and no-nonsense club heaters. A long-time digger with roots in raw, independentmusic, he plays only what he truly believes in, always keeping it underground. Alongside DJing, he co-runs the OO Recordings label, hosts a resident radio show on IDA Helsinki, and curates parties with the DWSC collective.

2000-luvun elektrosta tech-houseen ja breakbeatista perkussiiviseen klubimusiikkiin - eliXiirin genrerajoista piittaamattomat setit rakentuvat viettelevästä energiasta ja leikkisyydestä. Tanssimusiikin kulta-ajoista (hänen mukaansa 2008) inspiroituneena hän tuo
Öfestin yöhön hikistä, Ibiza-henkistä menoa.
(Voi lisätä jos tarve): PTNKY-kollektiivin innoittamana aloittanut eliXiiri on tanssittanut yleisöjä lukuisissa iltamissa mm. Ääniwallissa, Siltasessa ja Post Barissa. Viime vuoden lopusta lähtien hän on myös co-hostannut Roundabout-iltaa Kaikussa.

Itseasias (Marian), on 23-vuotias tuore nimi Helsingin klubiskenessä. Hän on hyvin lyhyessä ajassa löytänyt paikkansa kaupungin yöelämässä energisillä seteillään, joissa yhdistyvät bouncy trance ja seksikäs groove. Hänen seteissään korostuvat vahva fiilis, tanssilattian
lukutaito sekä kyky luoda lämmin ja yhteisöllinen energia, joka pitää yleisön liikkeessä. Hän tarjoilee tanssilattialle juuri sitä, mitä jengi vaatii – leikkisästi, itsevarmasti ja tinkimättömällä otteella.

On Sunday, club hits and everybody’s secret favourites are served up by Guilty Pleasures. In addition to the concept’s founding duo Hotleevibling & Long Legs, the line-up includes the playful Bonanza Boys, late-night groove specialist Sampo, and Club Geeli diving into turn-of-the-millennium dance music with unapologetic nostalgia. Also joining are the duo DJ Aleksi & DJ Handshaking, genre-hopping selector Marju, electronic dance music custodians Bilar & Leo Sal, and eliXiiri, who creates unexpected moments on the dance floor.

SAT 13/6 – STERAC (NL) – 45 Years in Music + Roundabout

This Saturday, we join the Dutch techno pioneer STERAC in celebrating his 45 years in music. Come experience it first-hand: deep pummeling techno with ample shades of acid, Detroit, electro, ambient and lived knowledge, all filtered through the mind and hands of a Dutch savant. Opening the night are local beat conducting legends Katerina and Trevor Deep Jr. In room two, it’s Roundabout with Monokromatiko, eliXiiri and a special live set from Spilius. SAT 13/6 – STERAC (NL) – 45 Years in Music + Roundabout

This Saturday, come join the long-standing Dutch techno pioneer Sterac in celebrating his 45 years in music as he takes the stage at Kaiku for the first time. Having fallen in love with music as a child in the early 1980’s, Sterac’s affair with music begins intensifying in the early 1990’s with his earliest productions, already telling of a deep connection to analogue hardware and foreshadowing what is to come: decades of intense creativity focusing on the darker and purer shades of techno.

With a discography spanning way over 100 releases, many of them genre-defining anthems, Sterac today shows no signs of slowing down with a massive tour underway and an album coming out on Dekmantel as well as a slew of EP’s lined up. Come experience it first-hand: deep pummeling techno with ample shades of acid, Detroit, electro, ambient and lived knowledge, all filtered through the mind and hands of a Dutch savant.
