The moon reminds us that disappearing is not the same as being gone. Some nights, it is full, spilling light into the darkness. Some nights, only a sliver remains, barely enough to be seen. And sometimes, it vanishes.
But darkness is never the end of the cycle. What fades will find its way back into the light, perhaps changed, perhaps unfamiliar, but never truly lost.
Maybe we are meant to have phases, to be full, half-lit, or hidden in the darkness. Even when the light begins to fade, it is not gone. A dim light is still light.

Self-portraits ~ March - October 2025

When a song you’ve loved for years suddenly grows into you in a way it never has before. It becomes your muse, comfort, validation. It knows. These photos turned out differently than I initially envisioned but I just let them become whatever they needed to be.
//
Yearning for something that was never really mine, feeding on this need to be known, wishing to be consumed by pleasure instead of hunger. A phantom lover, spotlit, ready. Forsaken in smoke with the injury of potential.

"There's a grain of truth in every fairy tale..." A. Sapkowski.

I love shooting on location, especially if its a eriee, moody forest. 😅 The season of monsters is almost here!! I have two big shoot days coming up where I'm planning to have open short-shoots at two different locations. The first is going to be a fairytale waterfall day. The second will be in a woodsy area (tbd) somewhere, and it'll be dress up as your favorite monster or monster hunter. The waterfall day will be October 9th, and the monster shoot day will be near the end of October. For the monsters vs hunter, maybe thinking a big group, battle Royale style. And do a big collab shoot, then if ppl want a dedicated portrait session, we can do that after/during.

For the waterfall shoots, 45 minutes to an 1.5 per person depending on level of interest, so spots may be limited. Msg or email me for details.

Monster shoot details will be in a follow up post later in october when I have more details fleshed out.

"I dont not wish to die who I am. I want to live long enough to be someone else." Taliesin Jaffe.

This quote hits me something strangely. Some days its inspirational and encrourages growth and change as an artist. Others its a mantra to get through the heavy imposter syndrome. I thought it might be fitting for the photo.

A lot of times I struggle with the sense that Im not doing enough. I wear many many hats; be it in work, volunteering, in my artwork or just in general.

This image mirrors those feelings. Brush, alligator clip, brush saw. Found this spot while doing site assessments during work. Multiple tools for maintaining a camp in the middle of a like, kilometers from anywhere else. Needing to be there, ready for 'anything that might come'.

It’s been a while since I’ve photographed darkness.
Darkness has been a part of my photography since 2013. For years, it felt familiar, almost like a language I never needed to explain.

But lately, I don’t find myself reaching for it anymore.
Maybe I just don’t relate to it the way I used to.
Maybe I’ve changed more than I realized.
Or maybe, after all these years, I’m simply no longer drowning in the darkness I once knew so well.

There’s more joy now. More light. More happiness.
Still a little cranky, though. Some things never change.
