But here’s what I’ve learned: Maturity must precede mentorship.

The old version of me couldn’t always receive correction without feeling criticized. I wanted growth, but I wasn’t always ready for the stretching, accountability, and humility that growth required.

I’ve learned that you don’t have to force your way into rooms, chase connections, or beg for opportunities. Sometimes the door isn’t closed because you’re being denied. It’s closed because you’re still being developed.

When you become ready for the room, the right relationships, teachers, and opportunities have a way of finding you.

Elevation is tied to your evolution. Don’t just pray for the next level. Become the person who can steward it.

Keep growing. Keep learning. Stay teachable.

Some of y’all don’t have a winning problem. You have a need to be seen problem.

CJ understood something 20 years ago that most people still haven’t figured out. Winning isn’t about who gets the spotlight, who gets the credit, or whose name is on the front. It’s about putting the right people in the right positions so the entire team can win.

CJ didn’t step behind the scenes because he couldn’t lead from the front. He stepped back because he saw a bigger way for us to WIN.

And 20 years later, that decision has helped us build something bigger than either one of us could have built alone.

That’s why his name had to be on this book. Because you can’t teach WE IS GREATER THAN ME while leaving out the people who made the “we” possible.
