who knew life could change this much in 3 months?

i registered for @yourshotau on the 12th of march, 2 weeks before selection day.

“free training” - that’s the only thing that intrigued me. i never actually thought about wanting to be a DJ.

back in january, i bought a FLX4 in san francisco - the last thing i did in america as my exchange semester ended.
inspired by all the amazing sets i saw in the US, i just wanted to make some cool mashups of my own. but when i came across yourshot, i thought “why not?” and signed up.

as a media student i also thought this would be a good chance to practice making content, which is why i made this account and my series

fast forward 3 months - june 13, 2026.

after weeks of intense training, obsessively working on my set, staying up til sunrise practicing & making content, doomscrolling soundcloud, & hustling to sell tix:

i just performed my first ever DJ set in front of a packed crowd at one of sydney’s biggest clubs.

25 mins of playing music that i truly resonated with and wanted to share with my community. 25 mins of pure adrenaline & festival energy. moments i’ll never forget

thank u to all my mates who came out. seeing everyone, from all different parts and phases of my life, coming together in the same crowd to support me on my big day - u have no idea how much it means

thank u to my @aftr8collective family - my day 1s, whom i met on selection day and have been there w me every step of the way ever since. i’m so excited for the future and can’t wait to see all of us succeed. we’re gonna build something special.

to my thurs 12-3 class, thank u guys for the memories and vibes. i couldn’t have asked for a more supportive, genuine and fun group.

and shoutout to our trainers @dj_jonnie.s and @c0807t for your support and guidance. we couldn’t have done any of this without yall

to my cohort and everyone else i met on this journey, i’m so glad we did. u guys are some of the kindest, most creative and hardworking people i’ve met and u all inspire me sm

and thank u to the YS team for putting all this tgt, building this amazing community and for the opportunity to be apart of something special.
