Welcome to alumni Mondays! For the next several Mondays, we will be sharing biographies of some of our amazing SJS alumni! Some are still in high school, some are embarking on their college journeys and some are doing amazing things as adults. They epitomize what it means to be a Crusader. The school year is underway for pre-kindergarten through eighth grade. Call 304-267-6447 for enrollment information or email pblanc@sjswv.org.

Today, let’s meet Samantha Powers.

Samantha attended Saint Joseph School from 2003-12. Those years were full of great memories, wonderful teachers and friendships she hopes will last a lifetime. She graduated summa cum laude in 2016 from @musselmanhighschool , where she was in chamber choir, earned honors/AP credits and served as the service officer in National Honor Society. During that time, she was hired by @orrsfarmmarket and has been working there ever since.
Samantha attended Blue Ridge Community and Technical College for a year before transferring to @marshallu. While there, she worked at the rec center and was elected vice president of the Student Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Having received her diploma in the mail, she can now say she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in dietetics. Samantha plans to pursue a career within that field, focusing on local food/business promotion and nutrition education to all ages.

She is employed by @malloychevroletcadillac in Winchester, Va., and volunteers at CCAP/Loaves and Fishes, across the street from SJS.

To celebrate, here’s an appreciation post to some of my favorite people 🥂
•
To my lovely ladies: Thank you for being a part of our special day! Every one of you makes me feel so loved. I don’t know where I’d be without you girls! •
•
•
To my beautiful momma: Thank you for raising me to the woman I am today. Thank you for loving me, always putting my needs before yours, and the countless brave-hugs. Thank you for laughing at (most) of my stupid jokes, listening to my 40 minute long stories, and always finding time to dance with me in the kitchen. I couldn’t ask for a better momma
•
•
And to my soon-to-be husband: I love you more than words can say. When we first met, I had no idea how much my life was about to change. I’m the luckiest lady out there! Because of you, there isn’t a day that goes by that I’m not smiling. I love you so much and I can’t wait to marry you ♥️
