I remember seeing a Steadicam for the first time on a set in 2010. I knew that that’s what I wanted to do - but also had no idea what it was. I remember practicing on set every opportunity I could, wearing @shootpvh or @carlosoguerra gear during lunch trying to figure it all out. I remember going to the Steadicam Workshop and learning from Garrett Brown, @larrymcconkey, @jbuzzmo , @mikeosheajr , @abrahamsteadicam , @jaykilroy , @saade1971 and so many more - totally overwhelmed and just wondering how this Steadicam thing was ever going to work out. I bought my first rig from an operator in Florida. I flew there on a Saturday and came back the same day because I was on a job as an on set dresser. I would practice on the sidewalks of Astoria, Queens, people looked at me like I was crazy. I remember practicing with my wife walking around our small apartment. Then sometimes I’d go down to the basement and practice there. I remember hosting Steadicam meet ups where we would geek out and make up shots and pretend that we were one of the greats working on some big movie. @jcdp226 gave me my first shot on Nurse Jackie. @learan then brought me with him on an indie film that led to Madam Secretary. Years of pushing in on and following tape marks on a wall started paying off. No wave or volt - just practice. Years of practice that led to years of being on set, being away from my family and friends. And years into this career - I still love it. I love the people. I love the work. I love the challenge. Every day something new. And nothing comes close to the feeling I got watching The Exorcist trailer that leass with my Steadicam shot. One of the coolest experiences of my life. Thank you, @flanaganfilm and Michael Fimognari for the opportunity. Larry said it best, every day he learns something new on a film set. And I can’t wait to see what I’ll learn tomorrow. I will always remember that it wouldn’t be possible without the love and support of so many. Thank you to all who have joined me and supported me on this journey. I am beyond fortunate to be able to tell stories with a camera surrounded by a network of so many beautiful people. @societyofcameraoperators

Got a call last April while on vacation giving me the heads up on a new show. Tonight 10pm on CBS/Paramount that show ’CIA’ premieres. Checkout what I’ve been doing with old friends and new. ‘CIA’ it’s been a rollercoaster ride to say the least. The show is our creative baby, it’s just getting started.

Monday night on CBS a show I got invited to work on by my colleague and friend @jonbeattie82 premieres. It is part of the @dickwolf world of television that in high school caught my attention with Law and Order, I would watch at 1130 at night and stay up way later than a high school kid should and was allowed to. A friendly, fun and talented cast and a crew to match, it has been a really great experience and to be able to work with your friends everyday chasing the clock of time and energy is a good time. A challenge that makes for days that never cease to surprise and test us. My friend @jonbeattie82 leading the way as DP of this massive effort with constant persistence, brings us home. While it would be easy to be lazy on any of the 24 frames a second we have, he never gets lazy. A true gentleman and fighter for the show, the crew and the cast. I hope we get many more days to refine and entertain those who tune in. What’s great about a project like this is the opportunity to work together, suffer together, grow and succeed together with everyone involved who makes a big sacrifice to do so. @jonbeattie82 @nickgehlfuss @nataleelinez @necarzadegan @saade1971 @kwaalkes @abide84 @awcine @ddibologna @dickwolf @fbicbs officialtomellis @aileenmileen

Birthday came a day early this year. 6 count them 6 current or former Steadicam operators all on 1 callsheet. Doesn’t get much better than that.

That’s a wrap on Best Medicine! One of the greatest groups of humans ever assembled worked in the wicked hot and ridiculously cold, early morning hours into the wee hours of the night, with trains and planes and dogs and pigs and chickens, to tell a funny heartwarming story of community and love that I think the world needs right about now. Thank you, @theliztuccillo @jaykaras @johninwoodasc and @mattjsanto for the opportunity to be a part of this amazing show. Now time to rest and spend time with my family. Happy holidays everyone!

A dream team of SOA alumni/instructors on the set of the show "CIA." Does the rest of the crew even understand how magical this is? 🤔😎🔥
.
Show ‘em how it’s done, fellas.

The SOA community is about more than just a few days at “Steadicamp.” We genuinely look forward to getting together to help and support each other and those who are just joining us. “Grateful” does not cover it.
.
We won’t have a fall workshop this year, so we are extra excited to get together in February to welcome and help a whole new group of students into the community.
.
Spots are limited and already filling up. Sign up on our website, and we will see you there.
