happy rude awakening day!!! 🩵 i don’t even know where to begin talking about my ep. this was honestly such a long time coming and a dream that i’ve had for as long as i could remember. ‘rude awakening’ encompasses some of the key experiences and realisations i’ve had in my 20s. a lot of them opened my eyes to the world around me and the people i was interacting with, and also helped me heal some of my long time wounds. being a woman is so incredibly difficult. this shift from being a child to being a woman requires us to adjust to how we’re being perceived by men, how we’re being perceived by other women, and how we navigate the world. this ep discusses what i think a lot of women have experienced in relationships with men, like manipulation, lying, a lack of accountability, the mental health implications of being on the receiving end of those things, and how those experiences affect the way we navigate new relationships and the world. it also discusses sexual assault or attempted assault, and how it is actually okay to never forgive and forget someone for doing something so horrible to you. and above all, how important it is to have a good support system to hold space for all the confusing, harrowing, and rude awakenings of each stage of your life. writing this has enabled me to be honest and vulnerable in ways i’ve never been. and i hope that you find connection and solace listening to the ep, amongst the crazy production work by @daniellangmys. i truly am sorry if you can relate, especially to the last song. i hope you know that there is still life after those experiences, and that they don’t define you. and i hope this ep sparks some much needed conversations surrounding womanhood, therapy, girl besties, sexual assault, etc. thank you to everyone who worked on the visuals with me (@hangheavy @milkmaade @szrge @jason_sonja @sabrinakyy @halcyze @sijiatoh @sarahtan.makeup @krisstuhn). they deserve all the flowers and the best the universe has to offer. anyways i’m done yapping, i’ll get back to writing, thank you for streaming and following my journey 🤍
