Today is a special birthday. Not only because it’s my birthday, but because I am in New York, in one of the places that represents the greatest dream for anyone who loves fashion: the The Metropolitan Museum of Art @metmuseum @metcostumeinstitute
I can’t even fully describe the emotion I feel. I started from nothing, from a city that sometimes doesn’t even allow you to dream. Yet I carry that city, Crotone, inside my heart every single day.
Yesterday, seeing one of my pieces exhibited here, alongside the creations of the designers who have always inspired me — Yves Saint Laurent, Alexander McQueen, Anthony Vaccarello ,Schiaparelli , Vivienne Westwood — together with someone who has been both an inspiration and a friend, Riccardo Tisci @riccardotisci17 is something I still struggle to process. I truly cannot explain what I feel inside.
This is proof that you should never give up. Last December, I received the email saying I had been selected for this exhibition, and in that moment, a strength I thought I had lost came back to life inside me.
A strength that had been destroyed by a dark period — maybe one that is not even over yet. A difficult time when I had fallen, when I lost myself, when I stopped believing in who I was. And I am not ashamed to say it: I was scared.
But that is exactly when you have to fight. Fight for your dreams, even when everything feels impossible. Because you always have to believe.
And today, here I am, standing next to the giants who wrote history.
A special thank you to @franragazzi , the guys, @donna.althea , and @saccotts , who helped me bring this project to life and believed in me even in the moments when I struggled to believe in myself.
