@waterbbex invites us to step into the ocean and dissolve together in its darkness.

Bex is an interdisciplinary artist, fashion designer, and founder of the inclusive fashion label @chromat. When they moved to Miami in 2018, the ocean quickly became their conduit for change. It washed away the old and made room for the new. We’ve said it before, and we’ll say it again: Miami heals everything 🌊

Bex’s previous work in this series lived in daylight. For Issue 05, we pushed each other to move into the dark. Why the dark? Because chaos lives there, and chaos is where new meaning is born.

The result: Bex’s photographs, inkjet printed on textile and hand-stitched into a quilt titled “Queer Atlantics (Where I Dissolved).”

This piece is part of Bex’s ongoing textile series exploring oceanic intimacy and queer embodiment in Florida’s waterways. Accompanied by a poem from @mikah.amani, we’re transported to a world where we’re encouraged to feel, love, and transform.

Overdue Birthday dump 🍓🍓🍓

I’ve always had a complicated relationship with my birthday, but this year we did things a little differently. So grateful to be walking into this next chapter surrounded… or better, engulfed, in so much warmth, love, play, silliness, vibrancy.

As many of you may already know so many things in my life have changed since moving back to Miami, and with that I’ve been remembering to see life as a series of beginnings, openings. There is always a life for me right around the corner that I never could’ve imagined. Infinite love to receive, never needing to settle for less than the authentic and raw life I dream of. I am so privileged to be here and be surrounded by such fun, carings, bright humans in this lifetime.

Thank you to all you #spooky people who came out for yet another epic #PlasticIsScary Keg’ Klean!! 👻🐙💙

We picked up 140+ lbs of trash & prevented 240 plastic cups from being used and disposed of through enjoying our beverages in reusable cups - shout out to @wynwoodbrewing @vezasurbrewingco and @radiatemiami for the kegs of delicious brews and kombucha! 🍻😋

We also had a costume swap on site, so volunteers could bring their old Halloween costumes to exchange for new; this made for some great cleanup getups! 🧚‍♀️🧛🏽💀

Thank you to @virginiakeybeachpark for being perfect hosts as always, and to @natura_papers for sponsoring this event + making it all possible! 💚🥳👏🏽

The time has finally come for our 🐶 We <3 Biscayne Bay Yappy Hour 🐶 event with the City of Miami Beach!

DFO’s pups can’t wait to show up and show out. Are you bringing your furry friends? This event will feature:

🐾 zero waste puptails
🐾 puppy clothing swap (must bring clothes to participate)
🐾 a treat decorating station
🐾 rescue puppies available for adoption
🐾 A dog toy upcycling station, and so much more!

This exciting FREE event will educate you all on nutrient pollution in Biscayne Bay and how to be a sustainable puppy parent! Did you know that runoff from pet waste can cause excess Phosphorus and Nitrogen to enter our Bay and cause algal blooms and fish kills?

Let’s be responsible, pick up after our pets, and have a great evening with City of Miami Beach!
