Thank you to @onassis.onx for sharing the debut of my new game, Get Outta My Room, at ONX Screens! Over the past year, I’ve been developing a virtual space exploring the internet, alienation, and family.

What started as a small-scale installation in 2023 (still viewable at pleasewakeupdaddy.com), Get Outta My Room has since expanded into a juvenile retrospective on my early 20s, and the fears that can consume someone searching for a place, a community, and an understanding in a judgmental, jobless landscape.

Truly grateful to everyone who made this possible <3

Next level interactive theater.

In the immersive neuro-theater performance “hyper_object,” actors and selected audience members wear EEG headsets to measure their brain activity [slides 1-2]. These brainwaves are processed [slide 3] and help shape the background music, the state of a virtual planet [slide 4], and even the dialogue of one of the actors via an AI language system — all in real time. In addition to being a fascinating blend of neurotechnology and interactive theater, “hyper_object” explores what might happen if AI can someday understand more about our minds than we understand ourselves.

“hyper_object” had its world premiere last week at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg Center in Washington, DC. It was created, written, and directed by Graham Sack along with an interdisciplinary team of Hopkins artists and engineers. Sack is an award-winning writer, director, and academic whose work explores the intersection of emerging technologies and narrative.

While Under The Radar is sadly over, the future of Onassis ONX downtown has just begun! ✨ Thanks to everyone who joined us for the first performances at our new space in Tribeca, including the installation and performance of We Have No Need of Other Worlds (We Need Mirrors) from Jan 9-12, and ¡Harken! from Jan 17-18. Stay tuned for more!

🪞 We Have No Need of Other Worlds (We Need Mirrors) by Graham Sack for Under the Radar: A son keeps vigil at his father’s bedside, reading aloud from the old man’s journals—the words seem eerily prescient, as if written with foreknowledge of this very moment. Perhaps the father’s brain isn’t a disease at all, but a wormhole connecting different selves, different worlds. Presented with DragonO hardware, software, and visual concepts by LedPulse Technologies and LedPulse Collective Mind.

🗣️ ¡Harken! By Modesto Flako Jimenez for Under The Radar: An immersive reimagining of the fragmented history of Juan Rodriguez, New York’s first immigrant, where his ghost enlists ChatGPT, audience prompts, to rewrite his colonizer-distorted story in real time. Co-produced by ¡Oye! Group, Media Art Xploration, and Onassis ONX.

🏡 Thanks to everyone who attended the opening of TECHNE Homecoming! We will reopen on Thursday for one more weekend. 🔗 Link in bio for more info!

Presented by Onassis ONX for Under the Radar, this dynamic exhibition of multiple large-scale art installations and immersive performances envisions technology as a bridge between worlds old and new. Featuring work from Andrew Thomas Huang, Damara Inglês, Miriam Simun, Sister Sylvester, Natalia Manta, Aias Kokkalis, and Tamiko Thiel, the exhibition traces the ways that identity and kinship take shape through biological, mythological, and digital bonds, as the works invite us into speculative worlds where myths become tools for creation.

In celebration of Onassis ONX’s new downtown Manhattan home in Tribeca, these works are part of a free open exhibition with Under the Radar. Here, creation becomes an act of remembrance and renewal, encouraging us to imagine how we might come home to one another, to our histories, and to the stories still waiting to be told.

🗓️ January 9-12 & 15-18, See link in bio for exact public viewing hours.
📍 Onassis ONX, 390 Broadway, Floor 4, New York, NY 10013
🎟️ Open Exhibition, RSVP in Bio

There will be one final showing tonight of We Have No Need of Other Worlds (We Need Mirrors) by Graham Sack at 7PM. Be sure to check out ¡Harken! this coming weekend, a UTR performance by Modesto Flako Jimenez on Jan 17 & 18 at Onassis ONX. ¡Harken! serves as an immersive reimagining of the fragmented history of Juan Rodriguez, New York’s first immigrant, where his ghost enlists ChatGPT, audience prompts, and generative AI to rewrite his colonizer-distorted story in real time.

Based off a UTR performance from Graham Sack in which a son keeps vigil at his father’s bedside, reading aloud from the old man’s journals—cosmic reflections inspired by voyages across oceans and through jungles.

🪞 We Have No Need of Other Worlds (We Need Mirrors) Created by Graham Sack for Under the Radar

A son keeps vigil at his father’s bedside, reading aloud from the old man’s journals – the words seem eerily prescient, as though written with foreknowledge of this very moment. Perhaps the lesion in his father’s brain isn’t a disease at all, but a wormhole: a tunnel through space and time connecting different selves, different worlds.

Part elegy, part biometric séance, We Have No Need of Other Worlds (We Need Mirrors) transforms a vigil into a live theater and immersive media experience utilizing interactive technology, volumetric light and spatialized sound to explore the relationship between memory, family, and technology.
