POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

My first in a series of compilation albums covering what we deem to be “Grindhouse Doom” from around the world is now available on Bandcamp.

We begin in Italy. Arguably the current home of true psych doom. This is the Day of the Goat Rider.

I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed diving into the Italian underground and putting it together. Thanks to all the amazing artists for agreeing to be involved in this release. Link in bio. There will also be a bandcamp listening party on Friday 2nd October at 7pm. Link will be on story. Grab a few beers and join us!

Alright, the cats out the bag. We bring this news to you on the day of the lord. A Sunday of all days. Funeralopolis Radio has taken off from this planet into its next stage…

We have been speaking to the best of the best in the Italian doom scene to negotiate a release that showcases what we like to call at Funeralopolis, “Grindhouse Doom”. Prepare for psychedelic, fuzzed out bliss that could fuel a thousand horror movies.

We don’t believe there’s been anything like it so far in the Italian corners of the dirty depths of doom. No skipping required. No hunting through for favourites to add to another playlist. This is the playlist. A unified, cohesive sleazy vibe designed for late night cruising of the galaxy and untold mischief. We want you bumping this thing out all Halloween season and it will be hitting the streets on October 2nd. Listen to the Italians still maintaining the exploitation film ethos and aesthetic from the days of Argento and Fulci.

Funeralopolis Presents: Il Giorno del Cavaliere-Capra. The Day of the Goat Rider. This will be the first in a series of Compilation albums.

Get the Dodge Swinger 1973 fired up, get the top down, get the chassis low and prepare for a ride.

Sacri Suoni
Milano @ Legend Club
July 28, 2025

Really loved finding out about Italian doomsters Sacri Suoni, who killed the opening slot.
On the other hand, I gotta say I loathed the still red lights: those (and blues) are the scourge of concert photography, so I had to resort to B/W because they were otherwise yucky and there was no way to tweak them (at least with my -admittedly scarce- post-prod knowledge) and make them palatable: white balance would just render different tones of red and using the tonality cursor would've showed colors that had nothing to do with the concert.
Guys, ask for a little white light from the front, or even yellows, greens and pinks... I know, DOOM and all, but still... 😉

Italian sludge doom metaller Sacri Suoni released their debut album, Sacred is Not Divine, in 2023. They would sign with Electric Valley Records for the sophonore release, Time to Harvest. The instrumental band features the quartet of guitarists Giacomo Tagni, Gianmarco De Santis, bassist Mattia Cabarelli, and drummer Alessio Gavioli. Here is the band joining us for an interview, most questions are answered by Gianmarco, except where noted.

Look for this interview to be featured in the next issue of Transcending the Mundane... coming soon.
