Well, here’s the post I never thought I’d make:

As many of you know, I have poured my heart and soul into the sport I love most—track and field—for over a decade now, and I have loved every second of it. I’ve loved lining up at the starting line, and feeling that rush of adrenaline after starting the clap for my next jump.

But what many don’t see are the tears and heartbreaks that competing can bring to many athletes. Over the years, I have suffered from many injuries, big and small, that have slowly limited my ability to train and compete at the level I was previously able to, and to be completely honest, that has taken a toll on my mental health for many years.

I still love the sport more than words could ever express, but after 13 amazing years of running, jumping, and competing, I have decided to step away from the sport and start focusing on my academic and professional careers—which will allow me to get through college (hopefully) debt free and to be able to get more hours in schools where I truly love being.

Please know that this decision was far from easy to make because of all the amazing people I have met over the years, and I am beyond grateful to have had people who made saying goodbye this hard.

Thank you to every coach, teammate, friend, family member, and those who watched videos of me competing from afar for constantly supporting me and my athletic journey.

This isn’t the end of my story, this is simply the ending to the first book in my series called life. Please stay tuned to see what the next book has in store. I love y’all
