🤝 New Partnership Announcement

1-54 Contemporary African Art Fair is proud to announce its first partnership with the African Export-Import Bank (@afreximbankofficial) and the Afreximbank Art Programme – established under the patronage of the Bank’s President, Prof. Benedict Oramah.

This collaboration reflects a shared commitment to empowering the creative and cultural industries across Africa and its diaspora. As Prof. Oramah notes, “African institutions are no longer simply sponsors, they are actively shaping artistic content and leading global conversations around contemporary African art.”

We sat down with Tio Kauma (@tio_african_lens) the convener of the Afreximbank Art Programme, to discuss the vision behind this initiative and its role in fostering cross-continental artistic exchange.

Afreximbank Curated Spotlight

Do you hear the landscape?

Curated by @houari.bouchenak | 1-54 London 2025, Somerset House, Booth W17

The @afreximbankofficial Curated Spotlight at this year’s 1-54 London presents "Do you hear the landscape?", an exhibition that brings together a constellation of Algerian artists across painting, photography and video installation.

Taking its title from writer Mohammed Dib, the exhibition explores the landscape as both a reflection of the self and a space of shared memory, resistance, and resilience.

By weaving together multiple aesthetic languages, the presentation offers a fragment of Algeria’s contemporary scene, a dialogue between past and present, individual and collective, memory and imagination.

Featured artists include @nasreddine_bennacer, @sadek.rahim, @hellalzoubir, @mehdidjelil, @aminazoubir_art, and @collective220.
