The Sonic Huskiez (ran out of S iron-ons) bring home the SonoGames 2023 championship! We have our incredibly strong ultrasound curriculum at @uconnemergencymedicine to thank for this victory. Without the countless hours that Dr. Herbst, Dr. She, Dr. Lotterman, and all of our other ultrasound faculty dedicate to resident education, this win would not have been possible. 🏆 Thankful to be learning here, but I would be remiss to not mention @dragrant_ who sparked and motivated me to nourish my interest in ultrasound as a medical student! 🩶 Oh, and sorry to the 91 other teams. 🤭🤪

Throwing it back to SAEM two weeks ago in Austin, TX! We had an amazing time learning new insights, practicing our skills, and presenting our research. Here are a few highlights:

1-3) Class of 2025/2027: Each year, our program sponsors all interns to attend SAEM. In their third year, they get to go to ACEP.

4-5) Our annual SAEM Alumni Dinner, which includes residents, fellows, attendings, department staff, and our program’s alumni.

6) We went kayaking and bat watching on Ladybird Lake. This was sponsored by our wellness program, GROW (Gearing Residents for Overall Wellbeing).

7) We are proud of Dr. Michael Chado (PGY-1), who was selected to give an oral presentation titled “Single vs Multidose Epinephrine in Out of Hospital Cardiac Arrest: Does Race Affect Outcomes?” We had numerous other residents, faculty, and alumni give presentations, lead workshops, teach didactics, and share their research.

8) Congratulations to our very own resident trio [Dr. Ellen Freeh (PGY-3 and incoming ultrasound fellow), Dr. Elizabeth Hellman (PGY-2), and Dr. Carolina Brea (PGY-2)] for a fantastic finish at SonoGames. They placed 10th out of 92 residencies, with the guidance of attending physician Dr. Hilary Stroud (Davenport).
