Finished my first Eastman Philharmonia concert!

It is surreal that I’ve actually played my first concert here. It feels like yesterday when I was watching them rehearse on my audition day, and now I’m actually one of them.

I didn’t make any glaring mistakes either! Mission success for a first concert. :D

I can’t wait for what the rest of the semester has to offer, and I look forward to what the future brings!

Just realized I didn’t post recaps for either of my semesters this year yet… with that being said, SOPHOMORE YEAR IS COMPLETE‼️‼️‼️

This was easily the most challenging year yet—people weren’t kidding when they said sophomore aural and theory are hard! The rep I prepped this year for my jury also proved rather difficult, but I’m happy with how it came together, considering the timing of learning everything.

I really don’t have enough pictures of everyone on here, but thanks so much to all my friends I kept in contact with this year. Bouncing ideas off you all for assignments, and performing for you all in those cramped practice rooms means a lot more to me than you guys realize. Keep in touch over the summer, and see you in August ESM!

Had an incredible experience at @mostlymodernfestival this summer! Learned and did lots of bass-ing and compose-ing! Great people and great music all around :)

I’ll remember MMF for fun rehearsals, eternal ice cream runs, extended techniques, birds talking on stage, and a returning Pitch Perfect obsession. Got an amazing summer experience and I can’t wait to try it out next year.

From Barber, to Boulanger; David Amado, JoAnn Falletta and Andrew Crust were exceptional leaders. Beyond honored to have worked under their baton and of my student conductor peers. Specially for the works “Cambrian Explosion” by my friend Ignacio Rosado, conducted by Peiwen Zou; and “Fireworks” by Adam Harrington, conducted by Kai-chun Wong.

Thank you MMF for bringing us a space where pianists, conductors, living composers, vocalists and instrumentalists can share in harmony.

And to my viola section, thanks for laughing with me. For encouraging me to do better. For being the best section in the strings and being so fun to work with. Thank you JJ, Keon, Noah, Sam, and Wyatt. Y’all kept me somewhat sane 🙂‍↔️

Thank you to @jack.leslie4 for filming and recording, thank you @jjeffery_music for doing this joint recital with me, thank you to my wonderful family, thank you @joshuaconyersopera for showing me how to find my voice (physically and musically), thank you to the performers, and a huge thank you to those in the audience and on the livestream. Thanks for making this dream project become a reality!

I couldn’t think of a better way for my third year at the @eastman.school to come to a close. 💙💛
