“It was so meaningful to hear patients articulate that they felt themselves again.”

After graduation, Sahana Prabhu will continue the work she started as a student to serve the Central Texas community — now as a @dellmedpsychres resident physician.

As a Dell Med student, Sahana helped lead @cddoyle, a student-run, free clinic. There, she remembers evaluating a patient living at Esperanza Community for chronic diarrhea. Months later she encountered the same patient on colorectal surgery service.

“I was able to speak with the surgical team about my experiences at Esperanza Community and elevate important considerations about our patient’s home to the surgical team, including its infrastructure, resources, and on-site providers. This encounter helped me recognize how understanding patients’ homes represents a core aspect of patient advocacy — and also that our patients’ experiences do not exist in vacuum.”

Meet Sahana Prabhu (MS4), who has been one of our amazing VPs of design! She is one of our executive board members behind the design of volume II, which included 39 pieces and 47 pages in the final copy.

Sahana explains how, “each page you see was truly a labor of love — from ideation to edits to the final product — in order to best capture and highlight the each piece in an intentional and thoughtful manner. I loved working alongside Evelyn, Zahra and our wonderful editors and chiefs, and I’m hopeful to continue this work next year!“

This past Friday, community members and students and faculty of Dell Medical School joined to celebrate the release of Prosody Magazine’s second volume!

The audience heard from featured artists and writers who spoke on their artwork and their journey with the humanities.

RPC Passport to Houston presents Rice Night at the Rodeo: Chance the Rapper. We are excited to offer FREE tickets for Rice students to this event on Friday, March 6th!! More information about the Rodeo can be found on their website: https://www.rodeohouston.com/

Tickets for this event are limited and you will need to sign up for the random drawing. The signup form will be closed Sunday at noon on March 1st. From March 2nd-3rd, winners will be able to pick up their tickets at the RMC info desk, and the free-for-all will start from March 4th at 8am. Unclaimed tickets will be available to all Rice students.
RPC Passport to Houston will email you on March 2nd from passport.rpc@gmail.com to let you know if you have received a ticket.
