Iran Mall or Iran Grand Bazaar is a large bazaar in western Tehran that is the largest shopping mall in the world. This mall is built for commercial, recreational, cultural and sports purposes. It also has several hotels and a 5-star hotel, and the Iran Mall Cinema Campus, which is the only IMAX cinema in Iran. Iran Mall is located near Chitgar Lake in District 22 of Tehran. The construction of this project with an area of 1,950,000 square meters began in 2010.
Iran Mall also has three food halls, an ice rink, a two-tartan rink, a billiards hall, a bowling alley, a helium park, a bicycle and accessories store, clothing stores, a hypermarket, and a theater and cinema. By 2024, the lack of global brands in Iran Mall has led to criticism from the public about it.
The first phase of this complex, covering an area of 1,950,000 square meters, was unveiled in May 2018. The second phase was put into operation in 2020. The main investor of this project is Ayandeh Bank. The construction budget of this complex was more than 22 trillion tomans. Ayandeh Bank, managed by Jalal Rasoulov, was introduced as the main investor of this project, and the employers of this project were Alborz Tat Company, managed by Ali Ansari, and Milan Holding, managed by Ali Ansari and Alireza Biabani. Iran is a public joint-stock company. This company was established with the license of the Central Bank of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Council of Money and Credit. Part of the shares will be transferred and after the project is operational, the shares will be offered on the Iranian Stock Exchange, and Ayandeh Bank will eventually exit the ownership of the project. In 2020, it was said that 35 percent of the shares had been sold and the remaining 65 percent would be sold through the capital market. The first idea to build the Grand Bazaar of Iran belonged to Ali Ansari, and given its final dimensions, it will be considered the largest shopping center in the world.
