For the past couple of months, I’ve been feeling a little uninspired. Sometimes I haven’t known what to say or how to say it, and honestly, that’s okay. Mentally, I needed to step back. When the incident that happened with Uber, when I had lost my phone I had lost access to The Wiz Historian TikTok. I was devastated. But I’m learning that we’re allowed to take breaks, have our moments, and even start over, especially when life gives us no choice. Starting over isn’t failure, it’s part of the journey. Every time I look at this poster, signed by members of the touring cast of @thewizbway a little piece of Oz in my hand, I’m reminded of why I do this. The Wiz means so much to me. Not only as history, but because of the joy, magic, representation, and healing it has given people for 51 years. Whenever I’m feeling a little down, I remember: “If you keep on steppin’, you’ll be just fine.” I’m so grateful to witness, celebrate, and share the joy of this incredible legacy. Thank you to everyone who continues to support The Wiz Historian and to share this journey with me. Your love means more than you know. Still stepping. Still believing. Still celebrating the magic. La Cage Aux Folles ✨ June has been my favorite month of the year so far! It was such a joy to be back at @nycitycenter for my second Encores celebrating Pride and Juneteenth with my people! ✊🏾 A huge thank you to Robert O’Hara, @egoconcepts, @iliajessicacastro , @dormeshia and @josephjoubert88keys it was an honor working with you all. Shoutout as well to @ki.rodriguez , @kemar_jewel , and @zunie1o for also making this experience amazing! La Cage Aux Folles was the most beautiful experience to be a part of! Having the opportunity to work alongside a transcendent choreography team @egoconcepts @dormeshia @iliajessicacastro and help bring Robert O’Hara’s vision to life was a true honor. As the curtain prepares to rise for the last two times on ‘La Cage Aux Folles’ here in New York City, my heart is overflowing with a bittersweet mix of gratitude and melancholy. This journey, this family, this incredible story we’ve had the privilege to tell night after night has been nothing short of magical. Every laugh, every tear, every moment shared on that stage will forever be etched in my soul. To my phenomenal cast, crew, and everyone who came to witness our beautiful world – thank you for making this an unforgettable chapter.
