Sh2-132 - Lion Nebula - The final version with stars!

After sharing the starless version, I processed the stars using VeraLux Star Composer, recommended by my friend @deepsky.traveller.

I initially tried it in PixInsight, but the real-time preview was difficult to work with, and the same settings produced completely different results. Exporting the starless and stars images as FITS and switching to Siril turned out to be a much better experience, with smooth performance and fine control over the final result.

The Bubble Nebula and the Lobster Claw Nebula in Cassiopeia

The Bubble Nebula (NGC 7635) is a shell of gas blown outward by the stellar wind of a single massive young star, about 40 times the mass of our Sun. The bubble is roughly 7 light years across and sits about 7,000 to 8,000 light years from Earth. The star isn’t in the center of the bubble, which is why one side looks brighter and denser than the other.

Just next to it is the Lobster Claw Nebula (Sh2 157), a large emission nebula of glowing hydrogen whose curved shape looks like a claw reaching across the frame. Both are part of the same busy star-forming region in the Milky Way.

We had 3 clear(ish) nights in a row in the Netherlands! Also the nights start to become longer so I could gather quiet some data during these nights. I decided to go for the eastern veil nebula. I love the veil nebula and this part of it fits my FOV exactly 😎✌️

Collected 18 hours of data over 3 nights. It's the first time I captured the feinter outer Ha glow, so I'm happy that worked, but I think I can still get more detail out of that part. That's for next time 😅

My very first Saturn opposition. 🪐

Pointed the scope at the Lord of the Rings right as it reached opposition. The forecast promised clear skies, but reality was different. I spent hours constantly checking until the clouds finally broke, then had to race against time before Saturn drifted right out of my balcony’s field of view. But watching the Lord of the Rings snap into sharp focus on the ASIAIR preview after all that waiting? Absolutely worth it.

This is Andromeda trough a dual and filter! I wanted to try to combine my OSC data from 2 years ago with Ha of Andromeda. I'm still figuring out continuum subtraction.. 😅 So this is a preview of the Ha data already. I think it looks so cool! 😱

It’s been 3 years since I photographed this target so I thought it was time to give it another go. Back then it was 3 hours of data. This time I gathered a bit more than 17 hours and the difference is insane. Ofcourse my editing skills became better as well, but it shows how important more data is. Sticking to 1 target for multiple nights gives such better results 😊! Although its sometimes hard to stick with one target haha.

A few space facts 🤓:
IC 1318 (also known as the Sadr region) is a giant emission nebula in the constellation Cygnus, located approximately 4,900 light-years away.
The glowing red clouds are ionized hydrogen, and the dark "veins" you see are thick clouds of cosmic dust obscuring the light.

Dans le silence de notre ciel d'Occitanie ✨, il suffit parfois de poser son regard un peu plus longtemps ⏳ pour voir l'invisible éclore 🌸. Voici la Nébuleuse de l'Iris, une véritable fleur cosmique suspendue à 1300 années-lumière de nous 🚀.

Ce bleu électrique qui brille au centre n'est pas une illusion 💎. C'est la lumière d'une jeune étoile qui se reflète sur de gigantesques nuages de poussière interstellaire, comme un phare dans la brume 🌫️. Autour de ce cœur éclatant, les zones sombres que vous devinez ne sont pas du vide, mais d'immenses voiles de suie cosmique 🌌 : des berceaux de matière où naîtront, peut-être demain, de nouveaux soleils ☀️.

Pour cueillir cette fleur céleste et la rendre visible à nos yeux humains, il aura fallu une sacrée dose de patience 🧘‍♂️ : 894 regards distincts capturés un à un 📸, puis accumulés pendant 2h29 sous les étoiles 🌟. Chaque photo est une goutte de lumière qui, assemblée aux autres, révèle la poésie cachée de l'Univers 🎼.

Regarder le ciel, c'est se rappeler que même au milieu de l'obscurité la plus profonde, la lumière trouve toujours un chemin pour briller ✨.

🌌 When Dust Becomes Light 🌌

In the silence of our night sky ✨, sometimes we just need to look a little longer ⏳. This is the Iris Nebula, a true cosmic flower suspended 1,300 light-years away from us 🚀.

The electric blue glowing at its center is no illusion 💎. It is the light of a young star reflecting off gigantic clouds of interstellar dust, like a beacon in the mist 🌫️. Around this brilliant heart, the dark patches you can glimpse are not empty space, but immense veils of cosmic soot 🌌 : cradles of matter where new suns might be born tomorrow ☀️.

To pluck this celestial flower and reveal it to human eyes, it took a wonderful amount of patience 🧘‍♂️ : 894 distinct gazes captured one by one 📸, then accumulated over 2h29 beneath the stars 🌟.

Each photo is a drop of light that, when blended with the others, unfolds the hidden poetry of the Universe 🎼.
