General Summary of Dzoɖuɖu: Pathways of Ancestral Fire by @megborna

Dzoɖuɖu: Pathways of Ancestral Fire is a Master of Fine Arts thesis performance in Painting and Sculpture Practice, executed by @megborna on KNUST Campus. Conceived as a cultural intervention, it reanimates ancestral presence in civic spaces by blending Anlo-Eʋe and Asante ritual traditions.

Planning began in July 2025, involving the recruitment of 21 volunteers, primarily from the Painting and Sculpture Department and residents of the PerfoCraze International Artist Residency, with a rehearsal on July 30 at 4:00 PM at Old Tech Sec.

The Procession performance, held on August 1 from 7:30–9:00 AM, featured a procession from the Green Field between the KNUST Great Hall and University Hall (Katanga) to the Kwame Nkrumah Statue at the university’s official entrance, led by Megborna as a traditional spiritual priest.
It incorporated fire, libation, sound, and movement, culminating at Old Tech Sec with a convivial atmosphere featuring banku, pepper, and fish ( atypical Anlo-Eʋe dish variety of Akple).
Sculptural elements and campus-mounted monuments enhanced the narrative, linking past, present, and possible futures through imbued memories.
Supported by university approval, the office Head of the @painting_sculptureofficial and Sculpture, and the Campus Security team, the event engaged community, showcasing heritage, spirituality, and artistic collaboration. @blaxtarlines @hakpanyacollective
