Ugh… where do we even start? (Swipe 👉🏽) to get the full story.

I got an email announcing i was a receive a pretty prestigious award. I was SO excited!

With the award we got an ad in the magazine (amazing)! We submitted our ad creative and it got declined for going against their content policies (we still have yet to see these policies).

I was shocked. Wait, the image isn’t even a breastfeeding image. I’m confused… what? (Not that that should matter either). They said the woman in the ad looked too “seductive” and it was u clear what the ad was for… according to the men they asked.

I decided the replacement image I would submit would be a breastfeeding one. If they decline it again, I’m pulling out from receiving the award. How can they celebrate me for my work advocating for the breastfeeding community and my mission, yet I was told I couldn’t run this ad in their publication. Make it make sense.

We submitted the new breastfeeding photo and they accepted it. Hell yes! WIN 🎉

But it leaves the question, why was the first image not accepted???

I want to be very clear here:
The first image was NOT seductive. A mom pointing out how a breastfeeding bra works isn’t “suggestive” it’s practical. If your immediate instinct is to sexualize that image, that says a lot more about you than about the woman in the photo.

I can’t stand the fact that women continue to be sexualized, and the blame somehow falls on us.
