Bite of shadow, poison, and regret,
The blood stagnates, the drum beats, breaking the spell.
It awakens the flesh, makes the heart explode.
The tarantata dances, she dances the torment,
Spin upon yourself, tear the web!
It is not the animal you carry inside,
It is the silenced scream your chest conceals.
Relentless rhythm, vibrating root,
Bare feet beating the dark earth.
Every leap snaps a fiber,
Every spin in the wind erases fear.
Sting the soul, yield to the trance,
Sweat out the poison of half-lived days.
The music ends, the spears fall,
Your freedom is reborn in the mud.

Just off the coast of San Pietro in Bevagna—a small seaside spot near Manduria in the province of Taranto—lies one of the most mesmerizing underwater archaeological treasures in the whole Salento region: the famous "Vasche del Re" (or The King's Basins).
Despite the nickname, they aren't actually basins at all. They are 23 massive Roman sarcophagi carved from pure white Greek marble from the island of Thassos. They were originally bound for the ancient port of Ostia and ultimately intended for Rome's Trastevere district, which was historically the heart of the city's stone-cutting and marble-crafting workshops.
Unfortunately, they never reached their final destination. Sometime back in the 3rd century AD, the cargo ship carrying them sank, leaving these incredible artifacts—some weighing anywhere from one to six tons—resting on the sandy seabed. Today, they sit remarkably close to shore, just a hundred meters out near the mouth of the Chidro River, in shallow waters only about three to six meters deep.
Because the sandy sea floor shifts around with the underwater currents, the experience changes all the time. On some days, the sarcophagi sit fully exposed in the crystal-clear water; on others, the sand partially tucks them away.

Arrivi, sei stressato, magari frustrato,
It’ a feeling
It’s Italy
