The first impression of Utsav Camp Sariska is not the wildlife; it is the sense of belonging. Seven months after our first visit, we found ourselves back at the camp, drawn not only by Sariska’s untamed landscapes but also by the warmth that had lingered long after we left. Despite many new faces among the staff, the welcome felt exactly the same: genuine, effortless, and deeply personal.

Set against Rajasthan’s rugged Sariska landscape, Utsav Camp is less about ticking off wildlife sightings and more about slowing down and engaging with nature. The Stone Cottages reflect this philosophy beautifully. Raw stone walls, honey-hued wooden ceilings and expansive glass fronts create spaces that feel both luxurious and deeply connected to their surroundings. Morning light pours through the windows, making it surprisingly difficult to leave for the day’s safari.

Of course, the wilderness eventually wins. Sariska is a landscape of remarkable detail, and Utsav Camp’s naturalists excel at revealing its many layers. Every drive becomes an exercise in observation rather than a race towards a sighting, a reminder that nature here remains gloriously unscripted.

What sets Utsav Camp Sariska apart is its balance. It bridges two worlds: the raw unpredictability of the wild and the quiet sophistication of contemporary hospitality. For travellers seeking more than a traditional safari lodge, this luxury forest retreat offers something increasingly rare, a different way of seeing the landscape around you.

@mashrutirthan memory haul 🥹❤️‍🩹

We began our 2026 here.

Slow, intentional mornings exploring hidden corners.
Golden hour melting into bonfire glow.
Cozy bukhari ludo nights that felt straight out of a winter film.

We met the most beautiful souls who felt like family in the softest way.
Endless conversations. Effortless laughter. The kind of presence that heals you quietly.

Meals crafted with love.
Moments curated by the mountains.

The most dreamy, soul-soothing way to step into a new year.

Salis Afaque x Araiya Palampur

The Art of Slow Travel P7

There is something undeniably cinematic about Araiya Palampur at sunset. As the day softens, the Dhauladhar range transforms into a layered masterpiece, snow peaks catching the last amber light while the sky shifts from powder blue to rose and then into a deep Himalayan twilight. It feels less like a view and more like a ritual, a private performance staged by the mountains each evening.

The Duplex Suite is wonderfully spacious, offering a sense of openness and privacy that complements the grandeur outside. Yet the true luxury here is the uninterrupted perspective of the Dhauladhars. Whether you are sipping tea in silence or simply pausing between conversations, the mountains remain the constant focal point, vast and humbling.

Experiences at the property unfold gently and with intention. Evenings by the outdoor fireplace, wrapped in crisp mountain air with lanterns glowing softly, feel intimate and timeless. Days begin unhurried, often with a slow breakfast that balances indulgence and comfort, artisanal breads, thoughtfully prepared classics, and regional flavours that celebrate Himachal with quiet confidence.

The Araiya Spa deserves special mention. Tucked away in serene surroundings, it offers treatments that are deeply restorative and delivered with intuitive expertise. After hours spent gazing at the peaks, a session here feels grounding and transformative, leaving you lighter, calmer, and beautifully attuned to the stillness outside.

Araiya Palampur does not rely on spectacle. It allows the mountains to command attention, the sunsets to linger, and its guests to slow down enough to truly absorb it all. What remains long after checkout is not just the memory of a stay, but the feeling of having witnessed the Himalayas at their most graceful.

Salis Afaque x Mashru Riverside Estate

The Art of Slow Travel P6

Travel becomes gentler when it is shared, and at Mashru Riverside Estate, that gentleness sets the rhythm. The river moves quietly beside you, the mountains hold their distance, and time loosens its grip. You arrive not to do, but to be. Together.

Half the story lives within the estate. Mornings unfold slowly over warm cups of tea, light spills across wooden rooms, conversations linger without needing to arrive anywhere. The spaces feel honest and unhurried, shaped for living rather than looking.

The rest reveals itself beyond the rooms. Pine lined paths, riverbanks that invite stillness, moments that feel ordinary until you realise they are being remembered. Shared walks, shared silences, shared discoveries. This is travel stripped of urgency.

Mashru does not ask you to escape your life. It simply asks you to share it, more fully, for a while. And in that quiet togetherness, slow travel finds its most enduring meaning.

Salis Afaque x Mashru Riverside Estate

The Art of Slow Travel P5

There are places that reveal themselves slowly, without insistence. Set against the quiet drama of the mountains, this riverside retreat unfolds in fragments. Open meadows under winter light, pine lined slopes, a river moving steadily through stone and silence. The photographs speak not of plans followed, but of time released.

Mornings arrive without obligation. Clouds drift across wide blue skies and light settles gently over land and forest. The luxury here is space. Space to pause, to lie still, to let the day take its own shape.

Interiors are warm and understated, designed to draw the eye outward. Rooms open to hills and water, and you wake to the steady rhythm of the river rather than the insistence of an alarm.

Days soften as they pass. A bridge becomes a place to stop, not cross. Meals arrive as part of the rhythm, comforting and unhurried, anchoring the day without defining it.

The river remains the constant. Clear, cold, alive. It moves at its own pace and quietly invites you to do the same.

This is slow travel at its most honest. Not curated, not hurried. You leave with fewer photographs, but with the rare feeling that time briefly loosened its hold.

Salis Afaque x Mashru Riverside Estate

The Art of Slow Travel P4

Mashru Riverside Estate is not a destination that insists on holding your attention at all times and that is precisely its strength. It acts as an anchor, a place to return to after wandering far and wide, where stillness feels as intentional as exploration.

Some of the most striking moments on this journey unfolded hours away through long drives across changing landscapes, quiet meadows, frost lined trails, and rivers caught in golden light. Yet every road seemed to lead back to Mashru, where the pace slowed again almost on cue. The estate does not compete with its surroundings. It complements them, offering pause after movement.

Here, slow travel is not confined to property boundaries. It extends into driving without urgency, stopping because the view asks you to, and letting the day shape itself. Mashru becomes the constant warm, grounded, and unhurried while the region reveals itself in fragments that feel deeply contemplative.

Luxury in this context is not proximity but permission. Permission to wander for hours, to return tired and content, to do less once back, and feel more because of it.

A stay that understands meaningful travel does not always happen in one place. Sometimes it happens in the spaces in between.
