🔥The 1892-O “Micro O” Barber half dollar is a rare mintmark error [0.13] where a punch meant for a quarter was mistakenly used on a half dollar reverse die. [1] (https://www.pcgs.com/coinfacts/coin/1892-o-50c-micro/6463), [2] (https://coinweek.com/coinweek-coin-profile-1892-o-barber-half-dollar-micro-o/)Key Facts and CharacteristicsThe Error: An employee at the New Orleans Mint used a small “O” quarter punch instead of the standard half dollar mintmark punch, creating an unusually tiny “O” above the “DO” in DOLLAR. [1] (https://coinweek.com/coinweek-coin-profile-1892-o-barber-half-dollar-micro-o/)Discovery: Numismatist Augustus G. Heaton documented this tiny mintmark variation in his 1893 book Mint Marks, noting it was “hardly larger than a period”. [1] (https://coinweek.com/coinweek-coin-profile-1892-o-barber-half-dollar-micro-o/)Scarcity: Fewer than 100 examples are estimated to survive across all grades today, making it one of the ultimate rarities in 20th-century U.S. coin collecting. #silver #gold #money #coin #collectibles @pcgscoin @peacedollar86 @silverandgoldtrade @johnalbanesecac @half_dollar_happy @halfdollarcollector @xfhalfcrazy @fiftycent1932 @salisbury_coin @bullion_dollar_man @dlrccoins @bobpaul_rarecoins
