Day 4: Laguna Negra

Today we got up and hikes a little over 7 miles up to Laguna Negra. Our guide Juan Pablo was super knowledgable about the geography, plants and wildlife of the region and made us practice our Spanish by only speaking a little english in his explanations.

After lunch at the lake we headed back to barely miss the storm headed for the region and made our way to our camp by the river at Cascadas Las Animas where we closed out the day with a nice dinner by the Maipo river and some wine from the Maipo Valley

Day 1: Santiago

We finally landed in the morning after a very dramatic flight experience but so happy to be here! Its summertime in Santiago so it was easy to get out and exploring around our neighborhood of Lastarria

Some of our highlights: Plaza de Armas, Neighborhood Bella Vista & Views from Cerro San Cristóbal

We had lots of local cuisine including fresh ceviche from the central fish market (will reconsider walking through the market before lunch next time), Mote con Huesillo (a local drink served on the street made of sweet peaches and hulled wheat), and Chilean cervezas along with our plata of mixed local bites (empanaditas, arepas, sopaipillas, etc.)

Stay tuned for more updated from day 2!
