Paintings by Sally Silver (2025-2026)

Silver builds family portraits in oil paint applied through syringes into insulation foam, a method that treats the surface as material than only covered. Repeated injections erode the foam as they accumulate paint, and the emerging image forms through that erosion.

Her work takes addiction, trauma, loss, and memory as its subject. The slow, invasive process of applying pigment works against the recurring theme of the portraits it produces, using damage to the surface as a way of representing damage that took place elsewhere.
