🎧In Tune offers a variety of instrument lessons and group classes for all ages and skill levels. We emphasize personal connections among instructors, students, and parents, providing structured and enjoyable music lessons that inspire students to achieve their musical goals.

🎤Our Story
At music school, founder John Brophy realized that he loved teaching guitar, and after getting a business degree, knew that his dream of starting a music school could be realized. After gaining valuable teaching and business experience at New York City Guitar School, and moving to Maplewood, John turned that dream into reality by teaching out of his home, expanding his studio by hiring teachers, and then moving into the beloved Maplewood Theater Building in 2016 and now located at 165 Maplewood Avenue!

🥁Our Purpose
To inspire students to achieve their musical goals, and to keep music as a valuable part of life.

📕 Our Philosophy
Everyone is musical!
Students learn when they are interested and engaged, so we teach music fundamentals through songs they love. We believe the rewards of musical achievement go with you into life and help create community now and in the future.

⚡️Our Vision
To be a welcoming place in our community for both kids and adults to learn how to play their favorite music, and develop the confidence, perseverance and motivation to face up to life’s challenges.

🎸Dad Brainz
In 2022, a few NJ Dads discovered that they all played instruments and lived within walking distance of each other. They started gathering in one of their garages to share their musical feelings, feelings which turned into songs, songs which turned into a recording. They’re only doing this ‘cause they need reasons to get out of the house when their wives & children let them.

🎸Django Untrained
Acoustic gypsy jazz inspired by the legendary guitarist Django Reinhardt! Get a taste of the Django A Gogo musical festival happening the week of May 13-17th in Maplewood!

🌸Gina Royale
Gina is an alt-pop artist from New Jersey, crafting emotionally driven music that blends raw vulnerability with powerful vocal performances. Her songs explore intimacy, resilience, and self-reflection, resonating with listeners around the world. Gina is also an instructor at In Tune, right here in Maplewood!

A clip from the past Monday night at Dizzy’s, playing an original composition of mine titled “Storyteller”

Thankful for this lovely band: William Paterson’s “Female Composers Ensemble” directed by Bill Charlap:

🎺 Violet Mujica
🎸 Sally Shupe
🎹 Joy Cho
🎻 Killian Winn
🥁 Maria Kolesnik

Some context about this composition…it’s one of the first tunes I wrote to kickstart my journey as a composer. I wrote the song about a comment Professor Charlap made to me during a performance, regarding storytelling while improvising.

Enjoy!! 🎷

Hear ye hear ye o people of the valley - friends and foes alike. It is my distinct pleasure to announce that my senior recital will be the culminating event of the William Paterson Jazz Festival on Sunday April 12th at 8 pm. Failure to attend will result in public humiliation.
