Sunday.
The Winter Solstice.

This is considered the First Day of Life, as, henceforth, days become longer on the journey towards spring. This, the longest night, is a period of quiet gestation in the coolness and dark of the season, a period to reflect and move forward into the light. The Native Americans of the Southwest Hopi and Pueblo cultures believed this was the day that the kachina spirits would begin their long flight back from the mountains towards the fields to be present during the spring planting. For me it feels like a day of equilibrium. I am waking up grateful to have a home, a sense of safety, friends and family, and good health. Am grateful for everyone one of you.

Happy Solstice, y'all. Take a moment in the Sun today and smile.

Hugs, from Florida
~ Janet Marie

Let’s do a jewelry tour! My favorite ways to find jewelry are from meaningful places I travel to or finding an artist I love 🎨🐚💍 — with that being said, that means I don’t have any links for any of these pieces so I’m sorry! Here are the deets for the ones I do have links for or artists I can reccomend!

Rings:
Wedding band - my engagement ring Kev got at a local jewel back in his hometown 💖 but the band I got from @midwinterco — and I love that it had some turquoise and fun colors in it!

The moon ring I got from a pawn shop while Kev was buying ammo one day lol just how we do it in a small town 🤣

Om is from India when I was at my yoga teacher training

Shell ring is @salt_and_bone — she makes some super high quality and durable pieces that you can wear all day every day

The multicolored one is from a random store in California

@pestana_jewelry is one of my faves and she’s a local PNW gal and has the cutest little fam!

Bracelets:
Ya know I’m obsessed with my @evoracompany
And the shell necklace was handmade from @kendrabeshk

I simply do not have the words. @celesteburnsphotography was a joy and a dream to work with. The queer joy is palpable in every image. Thank you Celeste for creating a space to make art and capturing us in a such a loving and playful way. New @nosignalpictures bday tradition 👀

Saturday.
Saying goodbye. Leaving with a treasure of a gift of memories and a gift of custom jewelry that symbolizes all my experiences of this trip.

This jewelry -- a @salt_and_bone original creation collaborated with Adam that apparently was months in the scheming and making -- was QUITE unexpectedly presented to me Thursday night at Firefly at dinner. I am still stunned at how absolutely stunning it is and how honored and humbled I am to be the object of this creation.

I call the piece "Abaco." It represents all of who I am and all my experiences of this trip: the ocean, waves, shells, beaches, and sunlight in the abalone shell; the stars and constellationa at night in the metal work; and the love and treasure of family in the amethyst stones.

I am so, so utterly grateful.
💜 Grateful to know Blu, her inner and outer beauty, her fearlessness and her love for those in her life, not the least of which is my son Logan.
💜 Grateful for my oldest son Logan whose commitment to being present for those in his life is matched by the size of his heart and the depth of his character..
💜 Grateful for the company of my beloved niece Lucy, a ray of sunshine at every moment who is maturing into an amazing female force to be reckoned with.
💜 Grateful to have my Adam as captain of the boat and as my ever-adventuring partner in life.
💜 Grateful to experience one of the most beautiful places on earth both by day and night.
💜 Grateful for the quiet in my soul once more.
💜 Grateful to be able to consider doing this again one day.

Alas, it is time to go home.
I do so of memories of a magical week on a boat with these clowns!

Until next time, peace out Abaco.
I leave healed and peaceful.
