I’ve gotten asked pretty often this year if I have a favorite place I’ve traveled to with work, and honestly, I don’t think I could ever pick just one.

Every place holds a different kind of meaning, and part of what makes each one so special is getting to experience it with my couples.

Sometimes it’s a place they’ve visited before and holds a special place to them. Other times, it’s somewhere they’ve always dreamed of visiting and are excited to experience for the first time together.

I love getting to see why they chose the place they did, discovering the little things that make it meaningful, and watching them experience it all while documenting their day.

So, no, I don’t have a favorite destination. But I do have a whole lot of favorite memories, each tied to a different place, a different couple, and a different story. And I think that’s extremely special.

We’re still sitting with everything Nectar Escape gave us this past weekend, and we couldn’t have asked for a more perfect group. We let ourselves be held by the space, by the movement, and honestly, by each other… you really just had to be there tbh.

There was so much trust, so much tenderness, so much permission to simply exist. It’s what we’ve always dreamed of creating at Nectar…not just a studio, but a place to come home to yourself. A place to learn hard tricks, cool sequencing across movement modalities (including burlesque, hip hop and whatever else we can offer), and to lean into the embodiment of it all.

Thank you to everyone who said yes to this retreat, and a huge thank you to our facilitators who held the space so beautifully and with so much diversity: @jaylah.noelle @maxine._.mae (not pictured) @venus.ascends @joyesumner. You are so deeply appreciated.

Our cup is full… and we might just have to do this again next year.

A few years ago, I pitched going to Alaska for @thepointsguy & they said no 🙄

I randomly called @mallorymhughes one day & said do you have any interest in going to AK? Mind you we had been friends at this point for 4 years without ever meeting IRL lol (s/o to our mutual from Northwestern for thinking we would get along, you were right).

We planned this trip, invited friends (@carolinebynature @ella.orse) & were set to go in March. 4 days before, I fell on ice walking to work & broke my elbow.

The girls graciously offered to reschedule bc women supporting women. Then one of us moved to SF (v happy for you gf) & couldn’t come, so then it was 3 of us, until one of us got sick the day before.

So that’s the story of how Mal & I met for the first time in AK. 🫎🥾

I don’t remember when I realized I wanted to lead retreats. But I do remember the joy and excitement when I secured a spot in Joshua tree in 2019 and announced/sold out for August 2020- right before my 30th birthday. And then I had to cancel it due to Covid. and I was devastated.

It took me six years the get the courage to try again. And in our opening circle we shared what we were arriving with and I was honest- I was arriving with a lot of excitement but also a lot of anxiety because I wanted everything to be perfect for my students. I wanted them to feel seen and held and loved and nourished. And I have very high expectations of myself and I didn’t want anyone (including myself) to be disappointed.
But as the weekend went on, I softened more and more. Trusting myself- and my team and by the end I can say I was leaving feeling more confident in my vision and so much more trust in myself.

I have a lot more to say and a lot more to share but for now- I’ll leave it with this:

I drew the Emergence card before my classes- every day, 3 days in a row.
“LIMITLESS POTENTIAL • ADAPTATION
COLLECTIVE • BEHAVIOR
There is a boundless, seemingly untameable energy here. This card invites you into a concert of both pushing forward and letting go. Here is the animus of seed-into-seedling, the unfurling of leaves, and the murmuration of birds. And I have to say- this was a beautiful theme woven into every class and every experience.

I have seriously been envisioning this since my first retreat in 2020. Writing notes the night before and getting to walk through everyone’s room and set the gifts out felt so special.

I am still speechless.

I announced and sold out my first retreat SIX YEARS AGO. And I don’t know if you remember what six years ago was… Covid. And I had to cancel it. I was so devastated and scared to try again. It took me this long. And what’s wild is that one of my students who signed up for that one was here at this one. And that felt very special.

I have dreamed of this for so long. To have finally done it. I just can’t put into words all the emotions I feel.
I have so much more to share about it but for now I’ll give you an overview of the practices.

We started the weekend sitting in a circle with some sharing how what we were arriving with and then a nice flow to get into the body. Students had been in the car for hours (due to the drive and a bad accident) and one student flew in- so we all needed a way to just get in touch with the body.
Day 2 we started with an active strength based flow with ankle weights- to FEEL that fire 🔥 (and that we did- for days after). In the afternoon we had a powerful breath work session under the red light to move the air 💨.
Day 3 we started with a lymph focused flow with self massage to feel the water move through us. And that evening we started with a Tulsi tea ceremony and restorative practice to ground and connect to the earth 🌱
Our final morning we gathered again in a circle and allowed ourselves to be seen- with aura photography and sharing what we left behind and what we were taking with us.

These are just some of the yoga practices we did in the studio. Stay tuned to see more of our activities and meals 🤤
