It’s cool to reflect on how much music I got to be apart of in the last ten years. I was in a similar place ten years ago and got to do a lot with some amazing musicians.
I’m excited to see what will come next.
I couldn’t tag everybody so here’s some more: @teeth.out @gostworks @relapserecords @translationlossrecords

Coltsblood/Un | Split | Translation Loss Records

Electric Blue w/ Black, Mustard and Mint Green Splatter | /150

So I realize that this is a split, but I love the artwork for this release. I am pretty sure that Un had my favorite art for 2018 as well. This artwork really captures the essence of the music.

Warforged - I: Voice (May 2019; ltd. 1/300 Nightfall vinyl 2lp in gatefold from @theArtisanEra; art by @stigma_7)

A masterful collaboration and mind-expanding debut LP from Chicago technical death metal five-piece, @warforgedband.

From the long jazz interlude on the second half of the record, to the guitar solo wizardry spread over 73 (!) minutes, I: Voice is a universe of its own with a list of guest musicians that rivals a small orchestra.

The blackened vocals contrasted with soft key work from front man Adrian Perez are the foundation that first drew me to this album and keep me coming back.

Considering the list of guest musicians, there isn't a problem of "too many cooks in the kitchen". A couple tracks may feel a bit long-winded at times, but the album is cohesive overall and the guest features do a good job of keeping you in your toes during such a long and intense listen. The jazz bit is out there, but it's a nice resting spot in an album of concentrated tdm.

Among the many musicians guest featured include dudes from Artificial Brain (You can't go wrong with spot vocals from Will Smith) & Revocation and some fellow Artisan Era guys.

These guys rule live and this has been a standout album for me in 2019. The vinyl is quality. #NowSpinning

I know we've still got half the year left, but this is currently sitting as my AOTY. 75~ minute journey with an incredible array of features. Including one of my favourite vocalists - Will Smith of @artificial_brain_band

It's a lot to take in even for fans of the genre, but if you're interested in a dark, dissonant journey with intriguing concepts, perfectly crafted lyrics/instrumentation, and production it is definitely worth a spin.

Also, featuring sick art from @stigma_7
And beautiful vinyl brought to life from @theartisanera

@warforgedband .

Who's grabbed their copy of "I: Voice" ? We're just under 1 month out 'till the release and the love & support from you guys has been very encouraging and enormously appreciated.
Here is the full piece that Sam painted. It is our second time working with him after his efforts on the "Essence Of The Land" cover. This one is full of easter eggs and references to the concept.
I met Sam in person in Denver in October 2017 to go over the whole concept and show him the record. He had this to say about the project: "The world that Warforged has created feels alive in a very haunting and beautiful way. Being tasked to create the artwork for this world has been an extreme pleasure and challenge. They provided so much source content to draw ideas and inspiration from that finding a good starting point was difficult. I was given the music, lyrics, and a story written about each song. The artwork had to perfectly capture the vibe of the music. It's very dark, ominous and abstract with moments of light, hope and clarity. Seeing it to completion was a total joy and honor."

Thank you all for supporting us in every way you do! - Adrian

Our new album, "I: Voice", will be available May 10th via The Artisan Era.

Pre-orders for "I: Voice" are available through the link in our bio. "I: Voice” is the sum of 5 years of creativity and focused work. The music plays as a stream of consciousness - jumping often from one area of the metal spectrum to the next with recurring melodies and vibes throughout for the purpose of bringing about an overwhelming sense of nostalgia. Since Essence Of The Land & Two Demons came out, we worked to build upon and elaborate on our musical style and mission statement. From what started as an idea of modern death metal with hints at black metal evolved into a more progressive, unique, and “epic” ethos. Horrifying & beautiful, dynamic & aggressive, harmony found through dissonance, an ebb and flow through drama and resolution, a flirtation with memory, a call for collaboration, personality, and reality - immense emotional energy seamlessly woven within the death metal genre." Track listing:

1: We've Been Here Before
