Absolutely thrilled to announce that Valentina Magaletti, one of the most prolific, inventive and talented musicians working in experimental music, will be playing at Lubber. Valentina is behind some of our favourite music of the last decade whether thats in Holy Tongue, solo or in collaboration with others, and her record label is also a rich source of brilliant music. Its also fantastic to be a part of the Newcastle Festival of Jazz and Improvised Music - one of the longest standing festivals in the city which consistently champions experimental and avant-garde music!

Valentina Magaletti is a drummer-composer and multi-instrumentalist. Magaletti’s versatile technique, which can incorporate anything from vibes and marimba to contact microphones and found objects, results in a style that is forever evolving. Feeling just as comfortable performing behind a delicate ceramic kit as she does hammering out motorik rhythms, her creative take on percussion has resulted in an extremely diverse discography.

Steve Malley and Raymond MacDonald will be joining as support, and Sam Booth and Jon Cornbill will be DJing in between!

Cheers to Wesley Stephenson and Newcastle Festival of Jazz and Improvised Music

This beautiful slab of vinyl by The Shits will be released one week today….

There’s only 22 copies of the clear vinyl version of ‘Diet Of Worms’ left over on rocketrecordings.com - but don’t worry if you miss out, there’s 200 x black vinyl copies heading to decent record shops.

Thanks to @vinylpressuk for doing another great job!, lools and sounds impressive.

Here’s your healthy dose of scum - one of your five-a-day.

Louse drag a filthy strain of noise-punk out of the gutter, where grinding, single-riff brutality meets sleaze, repetition, and total sonic degradation.

Rooted in the lineage of Brainbombs and Drunk In Hell, and recently back from a run of EU dates with BRAK, they revel in ugliness - pushing riffs into oblivion and dragging rock ’n’ roll through a sewer of feedback, sweat, and destruction.

They now set sail with the Captain- en route to London for the main show on April 5th.

Tickets in bio x

‘Diet Of Worms’, is a feast for the senses in the worst way possible - primal rock boiled down to its essence and flung full in your face. Using repetition, tortured vocal invective and heads-down intensity as blunt instruments, these eight tracks are an unprecedented torrent of acidic salvation.

Whilst lurking somewhere on the decadence-destruction axis between the nihilism of prime Stooges and the bloody blackout of Brainbombs, ‘Diet Of Worms’ is possessed of a legitimately uncompromising hostility that both elevates and debases it to co-ordinates unknown.
