SKATER TOP 5: We asked @shawnmac_ for his favorite personal clips with backstories. Thanks Shawn!

5. Sw 180, Gap to Front Board

This one’s real old, maybe like 2013 or 2014, honestly one of my favorite clips I’ve gotten in general, filmed by Sam McCormick for his video “dingus collective” those were fun times.

4. Ollie, Hardflip

This one’s also really old, classic downtown spot, it’s gone now, but I heard the sculptures being stored at Suffolk downs in revere randomly, but yeah me, tim and squad would skate downtown after work all the time back then, also fun times, I remember this one taking a little bit, also I can’t even hardflip anymore.

3. Cellar Door to 5050

This one’s from a trip to Ny a while back, my friend Jesse is from out there and showed me this spot, super quick to pop up then pop to the rail, was definitely a scary one, Tim savage also filmed this.

2. Cellar Door Front Shuv

This one’s from a dial tone edit a while ago, filmed by Sam McCormick, we went out super early to get this one, I was having trouble committing to it, then a cop rolled up and this was the last try, sometimes I need that extra push to actually go for things lol.

1. 5050 Flat-Down

This spots wild, think this was 2019, we were in Rhode island at a spot and I wondered off to look around the neighborhood, I saw this in someone’s driveway and immediately ran back to grab Ted to film, I don’t think anyone was home so we got some time, and I managed to get the 5050, it was tough because u had minimal ride up to get up this big ass ramp, but it ended up working out, I went back a couple weeks later to get a photo and the dude that lived there freaked the fuck out on us. Glad I got the clip though, one of the coolest spots I’ve ever stumbled upon for sure.

SKATER TOP 5: We asked @stick_knee for his Top 5 personal clips with backstories. Thanks Richard.

5. Bs Nosegrind - Suede Peach

I was moving to Boston for college. Never filmed a part. The crew that welcomed me in (EB Danvers/swank) brought me filming. I had a mini part to start/end the friends section. This was my favorite. Tried it out of the blue. Thankfully it worked. The crew and people at the premiere were stoked. Made me happy because I was moving and creating a new friend group/community.

4. Halfcab nose manny back tail - Smile

This came from a vaguely similar skatepark setup where I’d done this before. Took awhile to click that it might be possible here. Real excited to try it haha. Never expected to find a spot for this. I tried hard because I didn’t know when I’d see another spot like this.

3. Manual 360 flip nose manual - Superette

Always been inspired by the best manny dudes (Daewon, MJ, etc). The tricks/creativity made me want to learn them. I visited a friend Sam in NY to film my first full part for CornerStore. Knew there was that perfect pad by LES. The polished top could make scooping mid trick easier. I went there twice. The first “land” I’d tapped twice. We missed it filming the vx through the viewfinder so had to go back haha.

2. Nosegrind 180 switch crook - Smile

This came from dorking around on a curb at eggs. One try went into a grind. Sparked finding a ledge for this. I knew about a basically endless angle iron ledge. Thought it could work. I could grind as long as I needed to get my shoulders turned for the 180. Lot of trial and error to get the 180 pop just right. Thankfully one worked way better than I imagined.

1. Front tail 270 fakie manny halfcab - Trinkets

I’ve skated/filmed at this spot far too many times. Eventually you push your creativity with the spot. I love doing grind/manny combs. Usually I warm up with a few tricks before one feels good/‘cool’ enough. I got into a fakie manny early. My hands go straight to my knees haha. I like that it wasn’t perfect. Looks like it was a battle, it fuckin was. This skating shits not easy. Extremely thankful to those behind the camera for hours on end. You the real MVP.
