A guide to PARIS by @billybonbonsuperbon !

Greetings from (actually) Rotterdam, where we’re just two days away from the @bandsdobk party at @theofficialunofficialrotterdam — a FREE multi-venue event affiliated in officially unofficial fashion with @leftofthedialrotterdam , where Billy Bonbon will be bringing summer to the stage!

Helmed by Félix Martinaud, Paris band Billy Bonbon (named for the gun-slinging baby in Jean Cézard’s ‘70s Western-themed comic books) makes music for the night of, and the morning after. Born from the pandemic, this is bedroom punk and the soundtrack to a laid-back, lo-fi kinda freedom—window-down drives as the sun starts to rise and the last cigarette burns, singing (or screaming) along.

Friday afternoon at Stalles, the best vibes will abound—and far beyond the fest, you can trust that wherever Félix leads you… in this case, around Paris… good energy is pretty much guaranteed.

Head to bandsdobk.substack.com to listen to the band + find Félix’s top picks to City-of-Light up your life — a list featuring Bastille’s best venues + techno barges + bars where you might “accidentally” end up dancing ‘til dawn.

And in the meantime, we’ll catch you at Stalles (—> Westersingel 50a, 3014 GV Rotterdam <—) on Friday from 12-4 pm.

Fun fun fun & free free free 😎

A guide to LISBON by @hauseplants !

We’ve hung out with Gui of Hause Plants in NYC so many times that we sometimes forget he actually lives in Lisbon. But to be fair, while Portuguese and Portugal-based, Hause Plants is kind of a New York City band. It’s not just that Gui actually lived for a bit in Brooklyn or the fact that, between multiple music projects, he’s probably played more shows on the LES than you have (call it the @newcolossusfestival effect). It’s also the record on the way produced by Gordon Raphael of ‘Is This It’ fame — which we’re pretty sure automatically awards the group honorary New Yorker status.

The sonic introduction to the project’s new era comes in the form of “Do It Like This,” a downtown-dirty dance track that just dropped this spring — shortly before Hause Plants opened for Two Door Cinema Club.

Head to bandsdobk.substack.com to check out the song + plan your trip to Lisbon with Gui’s official guide — a list featuring hill hangs, his top tasca and hangin’ (and dancin’) with has-beens to The Smiths 🕺🌅🎉
