What a relic?! A blast from the past...

I had some water get in my basement from the last storm. When I went to clean up, I found an old ABFF World Premiere poster from 2002. A little water damage but it's still very valuable to me.

Look at that line up of directors. Some are still in the business. Some aren't but I'm honored to be in this class for the 2002 @americanblackfilmfestival world premiere category... and still doing what I love to do.

Shout out to everyone on this list.

Some I've met. Some I've worked with. Some whose work I've admired... all I wish well in life and career.

One thing we all need in this business is stamina. Creative stamina is a real thing. The ability to pivot when necessary is a real thing.

I applaud all creatives. The world needs you.

Got so many comments saying there should be a KING OF CAPE TOWN spin off 🙌🏽 That for me was a reflection of the authenticity, commitment and pure talent that was showcased by everyone on #KOJ3

It made me really proud seeing my hometown represented on a global stage like this & the feedback resoundingly echoed those sentiments. Who knows?.. maybe .. one day is one day.

Who’s your Coach?!?

60 Years of Friendship…..

I definitely get my loyalty heart from my mama.

She and her best friend met when they were just 10 years old... and here they are, more than 60 years later, still calling each other friends. Now that’s the kind of relationship you can’t manufacture.

Can you imagine the stories they’ve collected? The childhood memories, the laughter, the tears, the celebrations, the heartbreaks, and every pivot life threw their way. Through it all, they stayed connected.

They hadn’t seen each other in far too long, so we decided to change that. Sometimes the greatest gift isn’t something you can wrap, it’s creating a moment that reminds people just how loved they are.

Watching them reunite was priceless.
Happy Birthday, Mommy. Thank you for teaching me that loyalty isn’t just something you say... it’s something you live.

#TBT Some people don't just build networks, they intentionally build bridges between nations. In my book, my comrade global entrepreneur @samaddavis is Newark, New Jersey's diplomat for purpose driven collaboration, connecting people, ideas, and economic opportunities from the African Diaspora to America, and back again.
