finally saying goodbye to the sport that shaped me and made me who i am today. eating disorders are a disease that sometimes go unnoticed and don’t seem like a big deal. they are one of the biggest causes of death in today’s world. it messes with the mind and the body and alters how the brain thinks and does things. for example, a normal person would know when they’re hungry because their brain is telling them that, as for me and many other people we don’t know when we’re hungry which is why we don’t eat. i used to only eat 1 full meal a day because my body was saying it wasn’t hungry. i had to force myself to eat and had to listen to this voice tell me how fat or ugly i am and if i eat this certain food i’ll gain so much weight. i was at 92 pounds and thought i was extremely overweight. the side effects of not eating were even worse. i couldn’t stand up without blacking out and if i stood for more than 10 minutes my legs would give out. my heart was also very close to stop beating which is why it was so dangerous. my dietitian told me i was no longer able to cheer until i gained 10 pounds. 10 pounds might not seem that much, but for a girl who can hardly put a piece of food in her mouth is one of the hardest things to do. fast forward to today, here i am doing what i love. cheer. my amazing teammates and family pushed me and knew i could make it out alive with an amazing story behind it, and they were right. here i am today living in God’s glory. He is the one who pulled me out and helped me stand on my feet again. i wanna thank everyone who helped and believed in me and making my last senior wish come true. i love y’all more than words can explain. peace out evc 💛💙
